As an atheist, I don't "believe there are no gods". I am WITHOUT BELIEF in the existence of gods. There's a difference.
A lot of people don't believe in Care Bears. Well, ok, they know that the cartoon exists, they know that the intellectual property belongs to someone, but Care Bears don't actually exist as real creatures in reality.
If someone believes Care Bears DO exist in this way, I'd recommend that they be very carefully monitored by psychiatrists. If a LOT of someones believed Care Bears to exist, wrote books which enumerate the many glorious wonders of the Care Bears, if these books demanded our worship of and reverence for Care Bears, if people devoted their time, energy, minds, etc to the "deities" that are Care Bears, if Care Bear worship was advocated and mandated in school, if belief in the divinity of Care Bears influenced secular law....... I'd still have a problem with it. A BIG problem.
That's what's happening with religious faith. Christianity & Islam especially. Belief in Care Bear / God influences my life whether I want it to or not. Why SHOULDN'T I have something to say about a thing that so profoundly impacts my existence?

They devote so much time to it because they fear it...they aren't really sure that there is no God, devil, heaven or hell and they want desparately to be able to back up their position...but they can't. BY SAYING THERE IS NO GOD, THEY HAVE BASICALLY ADMITTED THAT THERE IS A GOD, that THEY CHOOSE NOT TO BELIEVE IN. Think about it.....how would you know to mention something if it has never existed?...whether as a concept or a reality? Name me one thing which has never existed either as a concept or a reality and talk about it intelligently enough to even deny it. It's foolish to think someone would spend so much time denying something or try to convince others that something does not exist, if something never has existed. What's the point? It would be a waste of time and since it never existed nobody would know what you are denying anyhow. But, continually denying God's existence PROVES THAT GOD DOES EXIST...he must exist in order to be able to deny Him.

I guess that is a belief for them, that God does not exist. And since He doesn't exist to them, they write books on why He doesn't. Just like people who believe in God write books on why He does. Tim LaHaye wrote a book on God's Existance. I don't adhere to the belief in no God, so I don't know of any books Atheists have written.
I do however have a book on all religions, that states their belifs. I have yet to buy on on Atheism, because I don't believe it is a beleif at all. How can you call your ideals a belief if you believe in nothing? [PLEASE don't take that as my bashing anyone, I am probably not too good at saying this, since I am sleepy. lol] They may have beliefs, but I can't understand how if they say they have no belief in any supreme being. I guess I've always thought of a belief as something you believe in, like God or Satan, or something else.
I would be open to hearing what they DO believe, and if they call it a belief though.

Because 'Atheists' want mankind to evolve as a specie and stop carrying around luggage that, in turn, slows down the evolution of man both socially and physically.
-thats in a nutshell
EDIT:
allo: no offense, but why would you say such an arrogent thing? If we knew their was a god and where trying to deny it, what good would that do us? That would be just plane idiocy! If we believed a god, we wouldnt deny it. The reason we eny is because we dont believe it.
That has to be THE MOST STUPID thing i have ever heard some one say on these forums. Mind you, ive seen alot. Its like saying, im denying the million dollars under my bed exists. What? that dosnt make any sense. Why would i deny such a thing?

I could ask the same question, just in the other order. Why do Christians devote so much to atheist?
And yes to the Care Bears, atleast they cared!

I'd say that relative to the general population of religious sheeple, we talk about religion very little.
The problem is that we're besieged on all sides by irrational belief systems.
Why is you can look at other belief systems, say Hindu or Moslem, and see how silly it is, yet you're own is accepted unquestioningly?

"All I see from lots of you adult men at that's pointless mocking and ridiculing." do not misread human beings attempting to get believers to evaluate their ideals as an attempt to instigate laughter(mockery and mock). i'm an atheist and ALL my solutions are thoroughly public which you will view. very few of them are in jest or meant to instigate laughter.

I wonder why the Christians spend so much time asking this question, over and over, and over and over again, and again and again and again. Just look for a moment at the similar questions the next time you type it out.

Yeah, and why do white blood cells devote so much energy to disease? You'd think they would just enjoy life, and not stress about what the other little things are doing.
