Often, Atheists make claims that I am denying reality, they tell me to prove that the bible is true. Obviously you can't, but you can't prove that Atheism is the truth either.
neither atheism, nor the bible have ever been proven false.
You will try to counter that claim, noting many contradictions you perceive, but the simple fact is, until you have read the entire book, you cannot make any claims about its message, claims, or content.

So tell me now, why do you assume?
Show me your proof and tell me atheism has the right to assume itself as fact.

The wind blows. I can't see it. You don't have to prove to me it exists.

How is it evolution can be taught in a public school as fact, and we can't verify the truth of it?

Atheism is a claim, theres no proof that its any more valid the any other faith.

It can't be proven true until God is proven false. (Never gonna happen.)

You can't define logic merely by what you understand here on Earth.
We live in a very large universe, we don't have the right to do that.
The only person who can dictate that is someone who knows everything, that being said,
logic has to have a creator.

The believers have to prove it. That's their responsibility. This isn't me being "lazy"... that's the way it WORKS. No one, and I repeat NO ONE, should be expected to accept anything as absolute truth unless the burden of proof has been met. Whose burden is that to bear? The believers. The skeptics stand on solid philosophical ground. The skeptics are JUSTIFIED in their continued non-belief until such time that the believers live up to their responsibility.

By the way, I HAVE read the entire book.

And also, you're right. You can't prove a negative. No matter how much I demonstrate that a god is logically impossible and that there is absolutely no way to test the hypotheses of "a god", I can't actually PROVE it doesn't exist. Then again, I also cannot PROVE that there isn't a pink dingo hiding in my trunk right at this very moment...... but I'm very very very very very very certain that there ISN'T a pink dingo hiding in my trunk right at this very moment even though I can't PROVE it.

*edit* If you'd like to have a rational, adult discussion, I'd suggest dropping the ad hominem approach. Name calling (what you did by calling us "children") is an ad hom, in case you didn't know.

*edit* :::sigh::: When did I EVER claim that the only way to know that a thing exists is to see it? Have you ever seen an atom? I mean, have you looked at one in real time in real life with your own eyes? Have you seen bacteria? Have you seen your own DNA sequence? Have you seen gravity? No? Neither have I.

The DIFFERENCE is that these things are testable and observable in ways OTHER than perceiving them visually. We can't "test" this "god" thing. There is no "deity" test that can confirm or deny its existence.

And as for evolution, it's a naturally occurring observable and testable biological phenomena. It is predictive and, as stated, testable. It is theory and fact. Yes..... it's true. I don't know what the Christian propaganda machine has told you, but it's a fact of life, an inescapable part of our reality.

We dont claim to know the bible isnt true.

But its like saying. How do you know that a teapot hasnt been circling the sun for 6 billion years.
Now you would respond with something down the lines of, but this cant be true.
I would in return with something like, you dont know that as a fact, its possible

Yet you would know, that even though you cant prove it, all the evidence and common sense would say that a teapot is, indeed, not circling the sun for the past 6 billion years.

Thats how we see it. We are just like, how can you possibly believe this if you have taken a true non biased perspective at all things wwith understanding the way humans act, their motivations, their idiociecrancies ect....
This all shows to us, religion is with a 98 percent possibility of being false.

Thats why we get mad. because when we say something, often times people respond in illogical viewpoints that shows a character trait of close-mindedness.

Yes thats how it is, unfortunately.

EDIT: ALso, im sure almost every athiest here has read the bible, and have infact, been religious at some point.

You have to separate the belief in the Christian God from the Bible. It is very well known that the Bible - especially the New Testament - was written by many different people and selectively compiled by the church. The Bible is also subject to errors, or more likely differences, resulting from translations.

While there is some verifiable history in the Bible, it is largely a collection of books written by men. We don't really know anything about most of these men besides what they chose to write down. We don't know their motivations, we don't know if they intended their words to be taken literally or figuratively. We don't even know if they were sane. To assume they are the word of God just because someone decided to put them in the Bible doesn't make them true.

This one again OK I am bored I took the bait I will answer. I don't assume, I know there is a better answer. You can believe the bible is true all you want, but you shouldn't go round telling to many people to read it, some have been known to figure out the whole thing is BS & give up the whole thing all together. These people are not weak in faith just have enough common sense to know theve been dooped

Atheists are not making claims so no proof is required.

You are though. You're claims are extraordinary. Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence, yet none is ever proffered.

I have read the entire Bible. You don't have to get any further than Genesis 8 and the contradictions start piling up.

You do know there are two, maybe even three, creation stories side by side, don't you?

I would say that the Bible isn't true because it has been shown to discuss a model of the Universe that is incorrect. It describes a timeframe for life on this earth that has been falsified by tests designed according to the laws of Nature established by God.

God gave you a mind. God allowed it to discern the regular laws that were put in place to understand this world. Who is the more arrogant one: the one who bends to the understanding shown to him or the one who stubbornly persists because he can't possibly imagine any other way?

With love,

Lazarus

Pure b.s.- plain and simple.

A giant china teapot orbits the sun-prove me wrong...

the burden of proof IS NOT ON THE ATHEIST; it is on the one who claims the impossible to be true....dudes rising from the dead, lakes of eternal fire (which contradicts EVERY law of thermodynamics); this is all an ancient means of SOCIAL CONTROL for those who COULDNT MANAGE IT ON THEIR OWN!

why do you feel the right to be utterly irrational as long as you claim an invisible friend?

if I said that the U.S. civil war occurred in 1915 you would want an explanation, right?
......because that makes no sense whatsoever.

now, explain to me your little magic jesus one more time....

p.s. Seth, evidently you dont know the first thing about critical thinking...go back to school

(seriously..its like arguing with a child....why?...because...because why?...because....I pity you)

Atheism is a lack of belief, not a belief. There is nothing for an atheist to prove. Now bring your God over here so we can beat on him some more. You have a kind of funny God, he can't even defend himself.

You ask atheists to prove the bible is false? You are asking that a negative be proven. If you can do it, so can I.

Prove to me that you're not a pedohpile. Account for every second of your life, short eyes. I can assume that you are until you prove your innocence.

If you don't want that burden of proof applied to you, then don' t ask it of others.

If you say, "god gets a different burden of proof", then you don't have the courage to stand up for your beliefs. If "true until proven false" is good enough for your "god", then it should be good enough for you. If you disagree, then you're either a coward who won't put up or shut up, or you're a liar who knows he can't prove his point.

the burden is on both for the believer and the non it all comes down to a personal issue .as you can see I'm a believer from my wording . i have never as far back as i can remember not believed. so did i have a choice? well even if i didn't then. i do now and i still choose to believe.for the believer it's about life now and more so about the after life . for the non believer some believe and they hate god for what has happen in their life so they denied him thinking that it hurt him and then they go out and lash out at believers out of their own pain , and as for proof that god exist well i look at life. all life and in my own image . you heard that saying me myself and i . everybody at one time or another talks to them self. well if your talking to yourself.let's say you pose yourself a question. who answers you. YOU? how can two mind live in the same body. in the end you have one thing you own . and what that is. your choice .your right to choose. or will. whatever you call it is yours. god doesn't need you to believe in him. to make him real. and as a believer i don't need you to believe.to make my belief more real to me. this is not a court of law. burden of proof does not apply here. this is personal either search out for yourself or don't that's up to you. that is your choice.and i can't nor would i want to take that away from you.
