If they have them, they are real to them. It is not something to make fun of at all. Often, phobias are caused by some sort of trauma or deep problems in a persons life. They can be overcome. It takes determination and help. I don't believe in pills, I believe in talk therapy through a good counselor to help with phobias.

Phobias are real, but too many people cry "phobia" when they have a slight fear of something. A true phobia is a strong, irrational fear. That means that if you find spiders icky, you are not arachnophobic.

I saw a clip on Web Junk 20 from the Maury Povich show about a girl intensely afraid of pickles. If you do a search you could probably find the clip (I'm just too tired). I felt sorry for her, I have an issue or two myself you know but it was so hard not to laugh. Apparently she was not acting. I am just so thankful I'm not afraid of pickles.

yes they are real, and to the people that have them they are very very real. they really don't see them as weird neither, they have had them for so long that they are part of their lifes. But it come as time when they interfear with their lifes toom much, and that is when they end up seeking help for it. So yes they are very real and are not something to be making fun of or teasing someone about , cause to them, it is so very real.

Yes they are. It's possible to develop a phobia against anything.
