Ramadan is not a celebration, it is a holy month when the Quran first came down to Prophet Mohammed peace be upon him, seoncdly Ramadan is a month of worship and fasting for entire months. People celebrate EID which is 3 days after ramadan. Different families celebrate it in different ways but they usually gather together and exchange gifts, kinda like Christmas but in a muslim fashion. Everyone celebrates it in any mannor they want.

the Moslems in Indonesia do not "celebrate" Ramadhan but the Eid Fitri day. On Ramadhan, they of course do the fasting, praying, and the children would have fun one to another with fireworks and such. The Moslems would gather on the mosque for breaking the fast together then followed by the praying. They also would gather in a friend's house, breaking the fast and praying together. They would read the Koran.
