Some really good answers here, so far.
Power from punches comes mostly from the hips and lower abs area.
Power also comes from the lats (lattisimus dorsi), and the forearms (it's kinesthetics ...).
The triceps really only enter into the mechanics of a punch at the very end of the punch motion.
Practice punching a heavy bag/makiwara with total attention paid to you feet, hip rotation, proper form, etc. Repetition will bring strength through proper, consistent training.
Good luck, I hope this helps.

Power in the punch will peak at some point with the development of the tricep. It is after all, one of your smallest muscles involved in the punch. Use 'diamond' push ups (push ups with thumbs and index fingers touching with good form and full extensions) to develop this area.
Greater power is generated in technique involving the hips in torso. A slight turn of the hip twisting into the strike about 3/4 of the way through generates the force up through the hips. Properly executed, it will have a devestating effects on impact.

a harder punch comes from using the whole body (like twisting from the hip with the punch), and not just from pure strength alone, but developing the muscles in the body certainly helps.
cable pull downs, and single arm kickbacks are usually a good way to develop the tricep. but there are other ways to develop the muscles in the arms.

like most people are saying triceps strength is not too much help for punching power but overhead tricep extensions with heavy weights is a good way to go about it hurts like hell but well worth just make sure you do them properly as most people don't

Close grip incline bench press...where you go up as fast as you can and down as slowly and controlled as possible
weighted dips....done in the same fashion as above
Note though...that most of your punching power actually comes from your hips/legs.....not your triceps

Personally I prefer the tricep dip... sitting on the edge of a chair and lowering your butt to the ground... then back up, kind of like a reverse push-up.
