If its 1-800 or 888 or 877 they can't charge with out telling you.
SO don't worry. As for the police, I doubt because of privacy issue. THey understand that getting the police involve might make matters worse, plus if You really worried call from a private pay phone in a discrete location. Seriously I doubt they can't legally call the police. You probably have a lot to talk about to them, but don't know it yet. Sometimes you just need to hear a friendly voice. If you don't have anything to say, its not going to hurt to call. There job is not to force you to do anything you don't want. When They were asking for volunteers, my impression was that they are there to help you focus on what you want. To organize your thoughts. I think it might be helpful, since you seem to have something to say, but don't know what it is.
If you need to just talk you could E-mail me. Sluw@sbcglobal.net

I have called a line before, they really help, they just ask whats wrong, and talk to you like you are a person, not some freak or anything. if you're afraid of caller ID just dial #67 first, don't let that stop you!
I know it's hard! I've een hospitalized for a suicide attempt before, and believe it or not it was the best thing that ever happened to me! I was able to get the help that I needed, and am now doing great. Please, talk to someone, anyone and let them know what you're feeling, thinking...

Well why don't you try you just might find out that there is help on the other end of the line. People that care, and want to help you, and they will. They will talk to you as long as you would like to , and about almost anything that you would like to talk about. They will help you process the feelings that you are having right now, and if you need help right now , they will help you get that help, so please go ahead and call them and do it right now, it will be one of the best things that you have ever done for yourself. So get that help now. It is well worth wild to call them, so do it now, and talk to them, and be honest about what is going on in your life, they can and will help you through this. I have been where you are now, and i have gotten help, more then once, so give it a try, it is worth it.

Hi,
I am overwhelmed to see so many good hearts pouring down their suggestions to see u safe! Great! what a lucky girl are you!
Cheer up my child! Try out those help lines given by some of the good hearted people like 'ladyofthousandfaces' and 'Heather'.
I am sure u will receive help by all means. Just give a call to them and start answering their questions. Incase, you find it difficult to answer, you may seek your parents help. There is no one better than our parents whom we can trust, unless we are one among those unlucky souls.
Incase, it didn't come through, try my suggestion indicated in my answer to your previous question!
We all like to communicate with you eagerly and daily. Wish you good luck!

i called today, but im not suicidal, just really depressed. They didnt pick up, the phone rang for a long time. give it a shot though, if its your last resort, if you feel you cant go on, talk to someone who thinks you should, and help you overcome your negative thoughts. It could maybe change your life who knows

they just try to talk to you, and help you realize that there is hope. at least that's what they're supposed to do. i called earlier tonight but nothing really happened. if you're seriously thinking about it you should call or go to the ER. i know it may seem like the best way to deal with things but it's really not. and truth is most of the time its not successful and instead the person ends up in more pain than they were before. try to get some help okay

you're lucky if you get through then they attempt active listening along the lines of "uhuh so you sound really upset and you're telling me you don't see much point anymore, can you tell me more about that" eventually you go round in circles until you are too tired to feel anymore. You go to bed exhausted and mentally drained and when you wake up it starts again. they do help to calm you down in crisis but they don't fix much, for that you need treatment, talking to a psychologist over a long peirod that kind of thing.
