Regular sodas do have a lot of sugar. The citric acid might do tooth damage, but so would fresh orange juice because both have citric acid. Worse is the other acids used in soft drinks. The diet stuff will eventually poison your liver. The artificial sweeteners, in independent studies, have been shown to produce formaldehyde in the liver when the liver metabolizes those chemicals. Drink water, it's better for you.

It's not healthy to drink any softdrink at all.

Normal softdrink contains a huge amount of sugar. Coke has a whopping 40g of the stuff per can. As we all know, this causes cavities in teeth and can cause other health problems such as diabetes.

Although regular softdrink has a lot of calories due to sugar, it's been suggested that diet softdrink stimulates appetite which causes you to eat more anyway.

Plus most diet drinks use aspartame (equal, nutrasweet) as the sweetener, which is known to cause a whole swag of health problems if you drink a lot of it. Newer ones such as the 'zero' range by coca cola use sucralose (splenda) which is marginally better for you.

Drinking huge amounts of soda can cause your bones to rot as the phosphor replaces calcium, making them brittle. Or so I've heard.

Too much of anything is bad for you. Soda is especially bad because it has citric acid in it, which erodes the enamel on your teeth. Most sodas have caffiene, which has been shown to affect the calcium in our teeth & bones, making them brittle (according to a new study I've recently heard). Diet sodas are high in sodium, which can lead to high blood pressure and water retention. Your best healthy drink? Water. You'll never have to worry about reading the label on a bottle of water. <*)))><
