i disagree with your bleak view of the world.

first off, we did not have as many hurricanes this year as we did last year. so that does not seem to be an incident that rises each year. as for global warming i am sure if you ask las vegas of california it would not seem that their temperature is warmer than last year right now.

second war is not always a bad thing. america had to fight for her freedom. if you have a bully who is always taking your lunch money and punching you sooner or later you will need to fight back to make it stop. the same with dictatorships. they build up an army around them to keep oppressing people and sooner or later the people must fight back. Deforming the face of the earth? perhaps blemishish but the world is still basically round and the oceans and mountains are still in the same places.
and nuke weapons, nobody wants to totally destroy the earth. it is in nobodys best interest. the puppetmasters who control the 9/11 hijackers know that total destruction would leave them out of a job.

resorce depletion can be reversed. petroleum is not the only way to fuel a car. these hybrid cars they are coming out with now are evidence of that. as soon as the energy industry finds a way to get theirs out of the solar and wind energy sciences they will become more popular. forests can be replanted. and over time they will grow. perhaps if california would tend their forest crop in a different fashion they would not burn up so many acres every year. as to an alternative to wood there is steel for framing, roofing and siding houses. simulated wood products are available for other uses as well.

as for the water. there has been success with many clean water programs for cleaning up dirty lakes. so this is not hopeless either.

the end of this earth age will come when it comes. will we delay it with worry? probably not. steps should however be taken to make the world more liveable while we are here. ed bagley for the secretary of environment. lol

Pacific quake prompts wide tsunami watch!

The Pacific Tsunami Warning Centre issued a tsunami watch for Hawaii and Alaska's western Aleutian islands after a 8.3-magnitude earthquake in the northern Pacific.

The centre said the waves could reach Hawaii's shores just after midnight Hawaii Standard Time. It was expected to hit Alaska's Dutch Harbor about an hour earlier.

The United States issued a tsunami warning for Russia, Japan and Markus Island in the Pacific Ocean following the quake.

The quake struck about 500km east of the Etorofu islands between northern Japan and Russia, the agency said.
