God said retards were possessed with demons and are forbidden in holy places, like churches...It's in the bible, why try to question it?

Any zealot who believes that their holy book is strictly the words of god has some kind of mental condition that makes them to afraid to face the real world. And since no god ever put pen to paper, fundamentalists spend their time trying to put the square peg in the round hold. They cannot provide you with legitimate answers to your questions because there aren’t any.

Using the Bible as an example, it represents one particular subset (people decided which books to include and which to leave out) of a collection of folk tales (some thousands of years old) from a an obscure group of quasi-historic semi-nomadic Semitic animal herders.

It is precisely the kind of literary/historic documentation that can never be fully understood because it represents symbolic interpretations from various periods by various groups who had different ideas about the universe, how it worked, and what was important. As a result, even the degree of consensus of the most capable scholars is variable from one segment of the text to another.

All people of normal intelligence recognize the inherent ambiguity and contradictions that exist. Religious leaders are those who come up with the excuses to make the contradictions disappear. There job is made easy because they speak to people of low education and no intellectual curiosity.

The last point is easily demonstrated. Creationist (and the like) ALWAYS make some statement to the effect that evolution is equivocal in the scientific world, or some part of its essential foundation has been disproved, or that there is disagreement and debate about it among scientists (especially those working in the life sciences – all of which exist ONLY because of the theory of evolution and would totally collapse if evolution were disproved).

Anyone really interested in the facts and truth would first go to the major professional peer-reviewed journals in the field (because that is where scientists do their debating). And, anyone who did so would not be able to find the (or any) alleged debate over the truth and factual reality of evolution.

There is no debate. There has never been a debate. There was no debate in 1859 when Darwin published Origin of Species. There was less objection even among the general (non-scientific) population than there is in America today.

There was no debate at that time because everyone knew that evolution was real (they had ample geological and paleontological evidence), they just did not have a vocabulary to describe it or a mechanism to explain it. Darwin provided the mechanism that explained what they had already learned to be true from their empirical studies of the natural environment.

Creationists never cite evidence for even just THE debate (or A debate, or ANY debate).
They cannot provide such citation because it does not exist, and it does not take much effort or looking to figure that out.

The fact is that this particular Creationist talking point is a false as every other argument they make. Creationists have NO facts, NO evidence. They do not have ‘just a little’, they have ‘zero’, ‘nada’, ‘none’.

So, if you are looking to make sense of their beliefs and statements, you can plan on looking for the rest of your life; and even with that, you will not find it. You cannot find it because it is not there and the believers will always keep believing the irrelevant excuses that they are told to believe. But, you probably already know that, huh?

Hold the phone, man. You cannot use the 'free will' excuse because according to your own beliefs, 2000+ years ago your god was a miracle-making fool - a real cosmic Penn & Teller.

And, it did it to reveal is godly nature to man (to show man how to decide). Therefore, there is no reason he cannot do the same thing in front of educated people.

Well, there is a reason....if he does not exist.

are we satan? no

Hoiw can God escape all the consequences of his actions so completely and thoroughly? God's actions are just, so he doesn't need to escape them.

How can everything bad in the entire universe be our fault--where in the bible does it say that all natural disasters are caused by us bringing sin into the world?
youre right, it doesnt say that in the Bible. so why are you talking about it...

.and how did we bring sin into the world when GOD made the GOD DAMNED tree and us and a talking snake who made far more sense to us than He did?
we didn't bring sin into this world, God created angels and apparently they were given free will also and Lucifer rebelled against God because of his pride and was therefore exiled from heaven. In the Bible, the Devil took the form of a serpent, not a snake, if you even read it. The punishment for the serpent in the whole fruit eating situation is having to crawl on its belly, so it mightve had legs before.

If Adam and Eve didn't eat the forbidden fruit o fthe knowledge of good and evil we wouldn't have any sin. God created us with absolute free will to choose good and evil. Would you rather be a mindless robot obeying God's every command or have the ability to choose your own path, good or bad?

None of this is making sense
sorry you feel that way. why don't you read more into the Bible and see if any of your questions can be answered from there. God Bless.

I am a Christian and don't believe typhoid, birth defects, tornadoes, hurricanes, etc. are all our own fault.

I believe that God allows them to occur for reasons of His own.

I don't know about other Christians, but I believe that there is a purpose to them all, to make us stronger, to prove His power, to teach us something, and so on.

If my child is ill I don't believe God caused it, I believe He allowed it for some reason. If my child dies and I prayed for his or her healing, I don't believe God didn't heal him or her, I believe His removing them from a world of pain was perfect healing.

I also know it is written that in the last days things will happen, and it is not I who wrote that mankind will have brought those things on themself. I simply talk about what it says, and seeing things happen all around me, can also see if I understand the Word. That those things are now coming to pass.

Sorry you feel so attacked on your beliefs. And I hope I've explained a little to you that will help about what some of us believe and why.

It's not our fault or God's fault. It just happens.

Global warming and pollution are our fault because we have caused them, but natural disasters like tornadoes are just an intrinsic part of the world.

God never promised that life would be perfect.

No, that is incorrect. Some things God causes to happen in order to perfect us, others He removes his restraining hand of grace and allows Satan to do his stuff, and still others happen because he gave humanity free will and humans chose to do evil rather than good oftentimes.

In the end, however, God will use ALL of these things for GOOD, for those who love him.
God bless!

Look in the mirror of your soul and see what it is that is keeping you from understanding what the bible says. Surely you can see yourself, as all should, in Romans 1. The first step in understanding God is to understand your relationship to him. You are a sinner. Until you recognize the state of your soul, your soul will rebel against him. When you realize who you are in relation to him then you will see that he is just. Romans 3:26 To declare, I say, at this time his righteousness: that he might be just, and the justifier of him which believeth in Jesus.

First shut your "God Damned" mouth for a sec. It makes sence. Open your eyes. We as humans have free will. Meaning God can't deside things for us. And the whole snake thing idea is crazy.

Your premise is wrong, we are misled in calling natural events, disasters. We are also really stupid to live in areas that have these events occuring yearly. Is it Gods fault that we are stupid? Get a grip.

Those are natural disasters...

Those are not God's fault, those things would not happen if HUMANITY had not disobeyed God in the first place...
