Windows folder appearing on startup?

Every time I turn on my computer I get a window that opens called "Windows". It only happens when I log on to my profile, and there is only one file in it called "WinUpdate.fld". Why is it there and how can I get rid of it? Thanks.

go to start >programs> startup
if you see windows delete the shortcut there

if not close the window and try logging out (well i know that works with win 98)
