I don't think medication is the solution here it sounds more like you need a bit of time out and someone to talk to. Prozac is for people clinically depressed and as you said "I have a lot of problems in my life" prozac does not fix problems it fixes low moods. I think you just need to find something that will help spark you up something real not drugs like somehow finding free time to relax or some good company. Things will get better but this doesn't sound like a quick fix situation with pills
Also another note prozac is a very bad drug its one of the highest anti-depression drugs to get hooked on, my sister in laws mother has had a serious addiction to it for 31 years now and if anything prozac has just made her worse there are a lot better drugs out there, if you really just want something to lighten your self up go buy some st johns wort from the supermarket or a health food store itll lighten you up and wont have nasty side affects or addictions

yes well medication is not always the answer to all of everyones life problems. And i would not say that prozac is something that should be taken lightly, and talked as a supplement to regain your enjoyment. Maybe you need to get someone to watch your kids for you for a weekend, and go out and have some fun with your friends, that might help you get enjoying your life some what more. I know i raised 2 childern alone, but i enjoyed staying home with them . But everyone is different. I take prozac, at the highest dose that you can take it. I am taking it for my ocd, cause they approved it for that as well as depression. Your not even saying that you are depressed , you just say that you do not find the same enjoyment in things. Of coarse you wouldn't . You are now a mother of 2 childern, and bring them up alone. Nothing goes back to being the same , even if you want it too, there are no magic pills to make you enjoy life more, and no magic wands, and for the ones with depression and other disorder, they know that. So i really don't know where you got the idea that Prozac was a supplement to regain your enjoyment. Part of finding your enjoyment , is remembering what you enjoyed, it sounds like that was before you became a single mother of two. Prozac might help, but then it might not, it is not for everyone, some can take it and it helps and others can not take it at all, cause it makes them sick. So why not go and see a doctor and see what they think, they may have a different answer then medication, they may try therapy first, let you talk , and get out your feelings, and why you think that you don't enjoy life as much as you did. Like i said it may be as simple as having someone you can trust with the childern for a weekend, and get away, and go see some ole friends, and just kick back and relax, sometimes that is all it is really going to take, cause mothers do need time off some times, and when you are doing it alone, well you really don't get that much time off.

Yes try Prozac or Prozac and Wellbutrin together. You will be happy all the time. But the only thing is that it takes about 3 weeks with Prozac to start working. And you feel like you want to stop taking it but if you hold on and wait it out the 3 weeks you won't regret it.

Prozac is the most well known of the anti-depressants, but you may find it is not the right one for you. You may need to try several different types based on your depression, wheter or not you suffer from anxiety or panic, etc. I originally took prozac for years and suddenly stopped--WHICH IF YOU DO DECIDE TO TAKE PROZAC YOU MUST NEVER QUIT WITHOUT MEDICAL SUPERVISION!!--I didn't feel different initially, but I totally spiraled out of control and could not handle my emotions. I would lash out alot. Which leads me, personally, to believe that prozac may not be the best choice for every person.
All anti-depressants seem different. Zoloft made me have the most unbelieveable panic attacks, lexapro made me aggressive. So explore all your options with antidepressants to find which is best for you before just picking Prozack. Also consider therapy over medication. Doesn't always work, but in the long run I think medication isn't always best.

I am bi-polar, so i've been on various meds for over 20 years, and yes prozac works, for some, (not me but some...) Zoloft works, effexor works... talk to your Dr. and see what would work for you. Some are short term solutions while others are long term/perm. It just sounds like you're feeling down and need to come out of your funk, you probably just need a short term solution, but you and your Dr. can figure that out . don't worry about all the bad publicity about prozac and stuff, you probably don't need anything that strong anyway.

firstly remember its THAT time of year..when everyone is a bit glum...we need some sunshine, skint after christmas and maybe put a few pounds on over the festive season..maybe thats why you feel the way you do?
Super Drug store sells a herbal tablet called Be Calm...its not addictive and it might help you a bit. Prozac can be very addictive and if you can avoid it...do so.
why not go and have a chat with your doctor anyway..he might give you some advice. try counting your blessings...two lovely children - thats something to be happy about honey and you should pat yourself on the back for raising them on your own!
good luck to you and i hope you feel a bit better very soon!

Fluoxetine (Prozac) is used to treat depression, obsessive-compulsive disorders, panic disorder, and bulimia (binge eating and purging). do not joke with this drug.u should talk to a medical practitioner or seek help from your local pharmacist on what supplements you can take.

I found a support group doing family patterns. It helped me see a families history can greatly effect how we work emotionally. Just a start, depression is a dragon that must be understood before it is slain!
