when someone who obviously speaks English as a second language asks a question here? I'm willing to bet that most of those that make fun of them don't speak any other languages. And a lot of the ones making fun of them don't even write (or probably speak) English well themselves! Before making fun of someone who speaks another language better than you do your own native tongue, try learning another language, morons.

So here's my question: Why are you such ignorant morons? You know who you are.

By the way, I am an English-speaking American. No second language. I admire people who CAN speak other languages.

I would imagine that it is because the same thing happens to us when we live in their countries? It's an international thing. I spent a considerable amount of time in France when I was a child and although my french was far from fluent I understood enough to realize that they spent a considerable amount of time laughing at my 'British French'.

I also speak Spanish. I used to find it somewhat amusing to listen in on the conversations that the mexicans had, and you would be surprised at how oblivious they are to the fact that someone actually might understand what they are saying..they assume that none of us do. If you think that Americans are insulting...you have much to learn. Mexicans have made an art out of this. Next time you see one of them smiling ever so sweetly at you...with that little twinkle in their eye..be sure, be very sure that they just commented on some part of your body and what they would like to do to it.

What always throws me off is, knowing human nature, sitting in those nail salons while the girls natter away in Korean to each other...and laugh at some inside joke...because I have a good idea that they really are doing just what we think they all are..they're laughing at you...because they know you can't understand....

So, are these folks really such ignorant morons? I would agree that the vast majority of them could do with some grammar and spelling lessons..but calling them ignorant morons is doing nothing more than putting them in the same class as our Spanish, French and Korean friends.

Obviously not directed at me, and I believe the guilty parties will run and hide from this question. Probably has a lot to do with the hatred and hysteria the government and its henchmen need in order to keep up a war mentality.

You know, there is a saying that each additional language you speak adds 50 IQ points to your intelligence in the eyes of others.

Perhaps they don't want to appear too smart.
Their little friends might become envious and tease them unmercifully.

HEY! i am a native speaker of American-english and I LOVE foreign languages! in fact, half of my friends are from foreign countries!!!!!!! I am learning Japanese, French and Chinese, and I plan to learn German, too!

I posted a comment like this about people who make fun of asians and think "they all look alike" and say "japanese is no different from chinese" and all that crap, so just to show you, I CARE!!!!!

and why are you asking this if you don't even speak a 2nd language???????????????

yes, i DO know people who are like that, but they mostly tkae spanish in school because "It's easy" ......JERKS! i do agree with you there, i'd like to see them try to survive in the world without putting an effort into foreign language!

Hi, just to tell you that i agree with you. My first tongue is Spanish, English is my second one, and the one i speak best. Then i have learnt German and Italian, and many times that i have "dared" to make some question in Yahoo from those countries, i ve received very unpolite comments, just for having made some mistake.
So, i think that there should be more people like me who support your opinion, thanks!

well said!!--just let them try to survive in a 2nd language..I speak mandarin and have a hard time with the tones...but that's nothing compared to a french woman I study with who learns mandarin and Japanese through english instruction..her native language is obviously french...I don't know how she does it.
