Maybe...they are the ones that need hope the most? Cancer would be a very cold and lonely and frightening experience. Maybe they hold onto hope more tightly because of it.
I can understand why they could be angry. I'm not a Christian, but that's the only reason I can think of for why they wouldn't be angry. Humans need hope to survive, I think.

FIRST ... God never "shat" on anyone. Each person is responsible for his actions in each incarnation. What you sow, you reap. You put forth an ill thought out cause, and you must live out the consequences. Why do so many people tend to blame God (or others) for the circumstances in their lives that they created? Each soul decides which circumstances they will be born into before each incarnation in order to best resolve karma from a previous lifetime. It's the only explanation for why "bad things happen to good people" and why we are all born into such vast sets of circumstances.

My son was born with disabilities. I turned away from God, not that I was ever that close to him. I WAS angry.....How could God do this to me? To my son? To my family? Being saved, and baptized took a lot of convincing on His part. The answer to your question is this: God never changes. He loves us all unconditionally (that's difficult to fathom) and He is there for us when we are well off and don't 'need' him, and when we have reached 'rock bottom'. It's we who are flawed, not God. We tend to praise Him (I think) when we need him most, yet 'forget' to give Him the credit when we're blessed.
P.S. Look at the world today....we're the ones removing God from the public square, and then wondering how to fix 'God-sized' problems. Who's 'shatting' on who?

Its not about starting to belive when things go right, its sticking to it when nothing goes right.
Nowhere in the bible does it say that if you follow Jesus, you're life will be perfect. Some things just come as natural consequences of the sin in the world.
God gave us free will, he can't stop us from screwing each other over, but he can pick us all back up again.

It is called begging. People who are on the edge of life are accutely aware of the afterlife. They suddenly and desperately buy into the propaganda of repent and live good or go to Hell.
Rejoice! If there is a God, then he will see through them for who they are. If there isn't a God then at least they are trying to be positive through their last days. It is win win. Just pat them on the head and say, "Good dog" and keep walking your own path to truth and enlightenment. When your reach god by the power of your own feet then you can ask all about it.

Because Jesus came and fuliflled this prophecy, written 700 years before his birth by the prophet Isaiah.
Isaiah 61:1 The Spirit of the Lord GOD is upon me; because the LORD hath anointed me to preach good tidings unto the meek; he hath sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to them that are bound;
2 To proclaim the acceptable year of the LORD, and the day of vengeance of our God; to comfort all that mourn;
3 To appoint unto them that mourn in Zion, to give unto them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; that they might be called trees of righteousness, the planting of the LORD, that he might be glorified.

One of Jesus titles is "The Suffering Servant"...He came not to be served..but to serve and was crucified on the cross to redeem us and offer us eternal life with Him. Not all the strongest believers are sickly and dying but those who do suffer can unite that suffering to that of Christ who suffered for us. That is the "redemptive suffering" you speak of and people offer up to God, all their pain and suffering to unite themselves with the Crucified Christ in reparation for sin. That is what makes it "joyful and a blessing" to many, not to use their pain and illness as a way to be angry with God for what is going on in their life, but to use it for God's greater glory.

I don't have any of these diseases and I believe God has blessed me in many ways. If I end up with one of these diseases, I will just except it, but I will never deny my faith and love for God and my Savior Jesus Christ.
