That answer is a simple one. According to the bible Athiests have their place. God makes it pretty clear to us. Jesus is the way and if they haven't accepted Jesus how can they receive a place in heaven. Read the bible verse I put in the 3rd paragraph.
Athiests not only deny God, but they deny Jesus. The whole point of Jesus's death was for us to accept him and through his blood gain forgiveness and an entry into heaven. The gift of salvation is a free one and offered to all. Even the athiest still can choose God.
Mat 10:33 But whosoever shall deny me before men, him will I also deny before my Father which is in heaven.

Being athiest, or any other religion for that matter, is not a factor to where a spirit goes after the body can no longer sustain it. If a person believes in hell, there is a higher chance that is where they will go. If they believe they deserve hell, that is definately where they will go, and they are most likely there before death too. If they believe they deserve heaven, that is where they will go. likewise for purgutory, limbo, etc, etc.
None of these places actually exists, except in the mind of the believer which continues to exist even after death. It is literally imagined, which is why people have been brought back to life and can recount experiences from beyond the grave. It is all in your head, now and forever.
Happy dreaming!! :-)

Before they go anywhere, they perhaps live in "hell" right here! What I mean is, compare the depth (emotional, intellectual, or spiritual) of an atheist's life with that of a theist's (of whatever religion) -- the atheist's life is typically much more shallow, much more subject to the storms of life. "Hell on earth?" is something atheists should use as a touchstone for their life's beliefs.

I do not believe that God has a set of "conditions" for humanity. Meaning that I do not believe that the actions of people or their beliefs system determine a placement (Heaven/hell)
I believe when one "dies" no matter who you are or what your belief system is now I feel that once one returns to Spirit then the soul remembers what is considered truth and will know with clarity and without doubts.
what I mean is that each religion holds a set of beliefs that each considers as "truth" Well even those of no faith( athiests) hold a set of beliefs that they consider as truth.
Which "truth" is "truth"
So I do not see logic or even a sense of fairness to even think that one would be rewarded or punished in this sense.

I believe it truly depends on how they lived their life. Forgiveness and merciful deeds make up for ignorance. There is a good movie with Gregory Peck called THE KEYS TO THE KINGDOM. It shows him as a Catholic priest and his best friend who is an athiest. It provides an interesting dynamic in that he never tried to convert his best friend. When his best friend lay dying in his arms that fact stuck him profoundly and seemed to be a source of conversion in the end.

Peace!
Hell, beyond any reasonable doubt. Atheism is a denial of God. How can God accept you in heaven if you have denied him?

Nobody goes to hell for not believing an "idea" cooked by humans !!
No one goes to heaven for believing that idea
Our Karma, irrespective of our faith, decide if we will have a better future life or not

People who think they are athiests, really are'nt, I known this by experience. When they were sick or going thru tragidy they ha ve asked for prayer from me and my church. i feel bad, thats what it took for them to belive in GOD. Maybee no one has ever explained the gospel more clearly to them. JESUS came to save not to condem. There is going to be all kinds of athiests in heaven, Considering GOD made every one and everything in his time. And now is the time for every body to get off their .booties and show the power of GOD.
