Do you rate them according to whether you agree or disagree with them, or whether they answered the question well or not?
If you give someone a bad rating because you simply disagree, why?

I think that as long as an ANSWER IS AN HONEST ATTEMPT AT BEING HELPFUL, they should get a rating.
If the answer requires an opinion,that rating will always BE POSITIVE. I'ts frankly BULL to downrate someone for expressing their personal opinion,when that's all you asked them TO DO!.

I rate according to whether a person answered a question factually and without judgment of the person's life. For instance if someone has 5 kids and wants to know how to discipline them, I do not tell him "stop having kids!!!" (as I witnessed on a parenting question). If a person is rude about their answer and cuts them down when it was an honest question, YES I DO rate down. The guy did not ask, "Do you think I should stop having kids?"

The only time I give a bad rating is when the person answering was unnecessarily mean to the person who asked the question. Some questions may seem stupid to some people, but if they are asked sincerely, they should be respected.

It doesn't matter to me if they agree. I like to see sincere answers with a sense of humor or sarcasim.

Up-votes for: strong agreement, good answers, and funny/clever answers.
Down votes for: stupid, racist, ignorant, bad, and conspiracy theory answers, and ones that I strongly disagree with.
