Catholic teaching does not accept, teach or believe in the rapture. It is mainly a protestant belief. We are all Christians but many denominations of Christianity do believe in this, and it comes from a misinterpretation of scripture developed after the reformation by some of the split off groups that developed. As Catholics, we do believe in the Second Coming of Jesus at the end of time yet at the same time, we believe in the Real Presence of Jesus as He comes to us under the species of bread and wine, in the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass each time it is consecrated at Mass and then becomes the body, blood, soul and divinity of our Lord, present on the altar.

The concept of the rapture isn't much older than 100 years out of the 2000 year history of Christianity. It is not a Catholic belief. In fact, the Eastern, Greek, Russian Orthodox Churches nor Ukranian believe in it either.

I'm a revived Catholic and I believe in the Rapture.
It is referred to as "The Blessed Hope" in the Bible (Titus 2:13) and is written about by Paul in 1Thess. 4:16 "For the Lord himself will come down from heaven, with a loud command, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet call of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first. After that, we who are still alive and are left will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And so we will be with the Lord forever."
The Bride of Christ will meet the Lord in the air and she will not be around for the time of tribulation on earth.
I and our community of revived Catholics believe this.

It is called study your Bible. Matt. 24:36 -43 tells of it. So does Luke 21: 34 -36; I Thess. 4:15 -18 is the best. You people should be ashamed to call yourselves Christians and not know these things. You would do well to give up the catholicism and get Christ in your life. Catholicism will damn you to an eternity of suffering.

The word rapture is not in the bible, but caught up in the clouds is. Rapture means taken, snatched. When there is a 7 year tribulation in earth where the antichrist comes out Christians will be taken our of the way and will be automaticaly transported ti Heaven by Jesus himself. It is in 1st Thessalonians ch4v13 where it says "Brothers, we do not want you to be ignorant about those who have fallen asleep, or to grieve like the rest of men, who have no hope. We believe that Jesus died rose again and so we believe that God will bring with Jesus those who have fallen asleep in him. According to the Lord's own words, we tell you that we who are still alive, who are left till the coming of the Lord, will certainly not precede those who have fallen asleep. For the Lord himself will come down from Heaven, with a loud command, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet call of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first. After that we who are still alive and are left will be caught up in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air and remain with him forever. Therefore encourage each other with these words" God said that we are not appointed to wrath. Once the Christians are raptured to Heaven, there will be a wedding banquet, called the wedding feast of the Lamb. After the seven year horrible tribulation on the earth Jesus will return with his saints, who have been raptured from the graves and who where alive at the time, and he will return with his angels, to punish the earth for their unfruitful deeds. Jesus is coming back as a lion, not as a lamb like he did about 2000 years ago. He is not coming to save this time, Jesus is coming in wrath. The question you should be asking yourself, is are you worthy to be raptured and be taken to Heaven to join the saints and the wedding banquet?Jesus said to count yourself worthy to escape all of these things that are coming on the earth to test everybody that dwells there, and to stand before the Son of Man. As long as you have excepted Jesus into your life. You have to repent from any of your sins, and do not repent to a priest, go to God directly himself. Jesus died on the cross so you can come to the Father in faith, and have a personal relationship with him.

The rapture is very biblical. Anyone who denies this fact is ignorant of God's word. Caught up, rapture....they are the same.
Here's what the Catholic Bible states:
1Thessalonians 4:17
*Then we who are alive, who are left, will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. thus we shall always be with the Lord.
*footnote- will be caught up together: literally, snatched up, carried off...Latin verb, rapiemur, or "rapture"

Because you are Catholic! This is why you have never heard. I too was a Catholic at one time and they don't teach this. They also don't teach you about being born again and saved, but they sure teach that a dead woman will hear your prayers. I am referring to praying to Mary. She has her sins too and cannot help us. This is also against God's Ten Commandments. You are not to worship idols and that is exactly what the Catholics teach. They also teach that a priest can forgive your sins, but he too has his own sins. Anyway, the word Rapture itself is not in the Bible, but it does tell about it in other words.
1Thessalonians 4:16-17
This is a wonderful verse that tells it all.

It is not a christian thing, it is a specific subset of fundementalist protestant thing. The "pre tribulation" rapture is what in another time would have been called heresy. Check out this link for a catholic perspective.

One reason you've never heard of it may be that it is not in the Bible. It is the creation of a nineteenth century English clergyman named John Nelson Darby.

"Rapture" was made up by Baptists. Don't worry, I never heard of it either until I went to services once with my Baptist friend. The word is no where in the Bible.
