i'm sorry honey but there's no easy way. it's simple to say "distract yourself! go out with your friends! keep yourself busy!" but even when doing these things you still find your thoughts drifting to that someone and the hurt comes back. i know coz i'm in the same situation :( but i've been there before. i got over it through time. it's a cliche but true. it takes time. so hang in there!!!

I know this sounds lame, but try thinking about something else hon.

Get involved in crafting, reading, watch a movie that does not relate to something that will remind you of that person.

If you are a Christian pray and read the Bible or get into a good group. If you are another religion/belief get into that more deeply, find a group to get into.

I also suggest you take time for yourself, relax, soak in a tub of hot water. Light some incense, put on some nice relaxing music, and just think of a wonderful place in your mind. Make it about YOU and not the other person anymore.

Take a vacation from things that remind you of this person, place things that remind you of him or her in a closet or trunk. Move around the rooms of your home, make the atmosphere different from when they were there last. Mail this person's belongings to them if you want to rid yourself of them, if this is not possible simply set them curbside for someone who will most likely want them, and not have negative memories attached to them.

Find someone else to share time with, someone who will not be bringing up this person in conversation. It is good to vent, but to forget you must move on.

Hope I've helped.

Well, I'm sure about stopping completely but I know about getting them out of your mind for a while (to procrastinate thinking about them I guess). Reading (especially like fun novels or muder mysteries), movies (stupid comedies work especially well), eating good (junk) food, going out with (other) friends and just chilling with them. Keep doing fun stuff that doesn't involve them-it works well and good luck! Hope this perosn didn't hurt your feelings or anything...

Join some kind of club (pick a hobby) and meet new people. Or just hang out with friends and family. You can also train your thoughts not to linger on the person when he/she poops into your head.

take away the things that makes you think of that person then go out with friends to get that person off your mind. keep living and eventually you will not think of him/her. as each day goes by it will become less memorable.
