Oh yes I have saw many speak in tongues. I was baptized a Pentecostal Holiness. Full submersion. I was dunked in a creak by a preacher in Columbus Georgia when I was five years old. I struggled while he prayed over me. When he pulled me out I came up choking, squirting water from my nose, and screaming struggling to get loose. I started sputtering and stuttering. Praise the Lord she is speaking in tongues. She is saved I heard them shout. I think I had been born again. He drowned me in my first life. The Pentecostal believe in speaking in tongues, Rattle Snake and other Poison Snake handling, Drinking Arsenic, Shouting, Jumping around and dancing during worship services. My pastor had been bitten twice by Rattle Snakes and lost half his finger. People do speak in tongues but I think they are just mumbling with overzealous enthusiasm or sexual frenzy. Amen BB

I have witnesed someone claiming to be speaking in tongues and I simply don't buy it. This whole business being practised today is nothing short of a farce! The sole reason that this gift was given in the first place was to preach the Gospel to UNBELIEVING JEWS in their own language without the speaker ever having learned the language. The interpreter was there to tell the Church what was said as the hearer understood perfectly. The Bible further states that at any one meeting there were to be not more than 3 people speak in tongues and then it had to be one at a time and if there was no interpreter present the speaker was to remain silent. We are warned in the Bible not to believe everything which appears to be a miracle as the Lord knows that Satan can work them too. We are told to "test the spirits" in order to establish if it is from God or not. These so called tongues speakers will tell you that you must be able to speak in tongues as it is a sign of your being spirit filled and therefore evidences your salvation. Not so says the Bible! Tongues are a sign, not to them that believe but to them (Jews) that believe not.The gift of tongues was the Holy Spirit speaking through the speaker in a foreign language therefore the speaker himself didn't understand what was being said and it was always "as the Spirit gave utterance" that is to say that the person (speaker) could not simply turn it on when ever he wanted to. The Bible states that where there are tongues they shall cease and that age has long gone as today we have the completed word of God. I would conclude that what is happening in some Churches today is not of the Lord and has many deceived into believing that they have this gift as the ramble and babble given out is ecstatic gibberish unknown to be any language on earth which is not in any way connected with the Lord's intention of the operation of the gift of tongues. I hope this helps, God Bless!

I have seen people "speaking in tongues"... at least that's what they called it. I actually had a woman try to teach me how to speak in tongues. She had me stand in front of her with my eyes closed and my hands lifted "unto the Lord"... and praying the word "Hallelujah" over and over and over again as fast as I could. She said praying "Hallelujah" was praising God and he would release the Spirit on me and baptize me with a cloven tongue of fire to pray in the mysterious prayer language of heaven which the devil apparently doesn't understand. I'm not sure where they got that idea. I never read it in the Bible. Anywho, I never actually spoke in tongues... I suppose my midi-clorians were too weak to tap into the "force" or maybe it was because I was Baptist. After it was all said and done I concluded that it all was a load of tongue twisting crap.

Yes, I believe in speaking in tongues. I have seen many people do it and I myself do it. It is not mass hysteria. When you are worshiping and you get so caught up in the glory of God, the Holy Spirit within you utters prayers that only God can understand. It is the true prayer that God wants you to pray and it is the Holy Spirit praying within you.

I was raised in this kind of church so yes
i even got caught up in the stuff
I think it can be explained by mass hysteria
I dont think they are trying to get attention
maybe some of them are
but it is their genuine belief but
its not the focus of what they believe

Theres actually a term for it called Glossolalia

yeah I was invited to a church like this. It didnt bother me but what did was the way I was treated for not participating. It doesn't matter if I believe it, they believed in what they were saying.

I do not believe "speaking in tongues" refers to the current day understanding of it. I think it pertained someone speaking a foreign language they had no previous experience speaking. Scripture also tells us it is of no use if there is no interpreter of this gift.

THE BIBLE CLEARLY STATES TO HAVE AN INTERPRETER PRESENT.

FUNNY, TONGUE SPEAKERS NEVER HAVE AN INTERPRETER PRESENT.

AND WHAT ABOUT THIS VERSE " TONGUES ARE A SIGN, NO NOT FOR BELIEVERS, BUT FOR UNBELIEVERS ONLY, AND IT SHALL BE A REJECTED SIGN."""'' L@@K IT UP, IT IS IN THERE, WHY WOULD YOU USE A REJECTED SIGN?

NO, TONGUES DO NOT EXIST TODAY, IT DID AT ONE TIME TO WITNESS TO THE HEBREW TRIBES OF ISRAEL, WHO REJECTED THE MESSAGE, AND WERE SCATTERED UNTIL TODAY. THEY WILL RECEIVE CHRIST IN HIS RETURN. I LOVED YOUR QUESTION

Yes, I have seen it. I went to church with some of my friends who were having a prayer session for my dad.

I think that people in church just get so caught up in the moment and have such a desire for attention and to be a part of the spirited atmosphere that they put on a big show and can somehow justify it with themselves.
