I think it has more to do with preconcieved ideas and a lack of knowledge on the part of the person assuming that Christians are incompetent.

If they mocked and scoffed at Jesus, why would they treat us any better? Jesus said pick up our cross and follow Him.

Christians don't just have a physical/material mind of awareness. They become attuned to the Spiritual realm of being that does have standards according to the 'Creator' who they believe created them. He only accepts those that have unified with His Spirit into His kingdom. For those who live according as they themselves approve this belief they cannot see and usually resent is easy to label as 'incompetent' etc.

I'm not Christian nor do I assume Christians are incompetent (what do you mean by incompetent in your question exactly). But a lot of people think Christians are silly or naive because many believe in things, like the literalness of the Bible, without having any proof or because they are unwilling to hear out others' views.
For example, if someone is born into a fundamentalist Christian house and is told that abortion is sin because the fetus has a soul . . . why accept that on blind faith? If someone accepts one thing on blind faith it might indicate that they will accept other things on blind faith, as well. Accepting things on blind faith is a sign of weakness - an inability or unwillingness to think critically.

Because an obvious part of your life is spent disconnected from the real (and only) world we humans live in. Because you are really serious and spend a lot of time and energy on something that has no physical existence or presence in the known universe.

It could have something to do with speaking in tongues, shaking in the "spirit", telling everyone you'll pray for them. Being EXTREMELY closed minded to anything or anyone who doesn't believe that Jesus is there salvation. This list can go on and on. It's not so much incompetence as it is ignorance.

i've very rarely been proven wrong on that statement. its all those super fanatical religious people that give all religions a bad name. i really feel bad for christians this day in age. nobody takes them seriously
