Personally, no, I would not. And even with all the precautions that can be taken, at this point you probably don't know this man well enough (as evidenced by your comment "before things get real serious") to put your future health at risk. If you think he's worth it, let him know that you would like to continue getting to know him, but that you would prefer not to be sexually involved at this time. Otherwise, let him know NOW that you don't feel like that's something you could handle. But kudos to him for at least telling you so you could make a decision about it beforehand!

He's a good guy that he told you up front. It's a very hard decision because basically you are putting your health at risk. However, it's been said that love conquers all. If you know the relationship is going to be long lasting and he's really the one, you will probably take the chance, like most of us. However, you have no guarantees if the relationship will last and that you won't catch it. It may down the road be just too stressful to deal with. Take all the precautions that medical science has to offer these days. Remember , even though there is no outbreak, he can still shed the virus. I believe there is a new drug out that lowers this risk. Check it out with your guy and talk about it with him as much as possible. It's a hard decision for him too.

No.

I'm at the point in my life where I'm looking for a serious relationship. I would never have sex with a man infected with herpes, so I could never marry him. For me, there would be no point to date him.

EDIT: No, people! You aren't listening to the ads. They say the medicine does NOT prevent spreading herpes, and that it can still be spread even when an outbreak is not evident.

Absolutely not! It is a lifetime disease and can be extremely painful. I wouldn't have sex with a guy without him getting screened for stds, including herpes.

FYI It can be transmitted even when the infected person does not have an outbreak, as the virus can shed even from apparently healthy skin. There is not cure and no medication prevents its spread--it only decreases outbreaks for the infected person. Also, condoms don't completely protect you, as there can be sores at the base of the penis, which are not covered.

Date: sure. sex: on condition that we are in love. It relies upon on countless aspects: we would might want to this aspect for a lengthy time period and make an effort. If I fell for him, like questioning continuously ... I probable would. because, you under no circumstances recognize if the subsequent guy you date is going to have something with out understanding it and bypass it on to you besides. various folk do not tutor any indications for stds, so picking yet another guy who appears sparkling received't be any more desirable of an option. if you're youthful and eco-friendly in relatioships, though, you would opt for to bypass in this, though. it would upload an more desirable layer of difficulty to the relationship and likewise maximum individuals do not stay with their first boyfriend/female friend.

Hmmm. it depends how in love you are with the person. the fact that he has told me that he has that std shows a sign of honesty. Honesty in a relationship is good. .. And just because he has herpes doesn't mean you'll get it. I hear you can only get those things when someone has them not when they don't have it.... PLus there's medication so they won't appear...and when they're no breakout it's okay. I don't know. I need to look this up. It's good to inform yourself. :)
