If you can figure out how to turn the receiver on, so that it can tune in the satellite signals, then you would have what you want. The problem is, if they send out a turn off signal that you haven't protected yourself from, then you just lost your free signals. If you are a programming engineer, and are familiar with their architecture for how they control the receiver, then you could do it. The problem there is that such as that is a closely guarded secret. It's possible, but not likely. Be a good citizen, and pay for your TV, it is so much easier on you to do so. If they were ever to find out that you had a way to get their signals free, then you could be in serious legal trouble. If you could find an apartment building that has the service for their residents where each one has there own receiver, and those are fed from a block amplifier that is connected to the dish, then you might be able to get away with that. Just have either permission, or don't get caught.
