That will depend on if you have anything else you can write off. Do you have a mortgage? Typically, you can get more back by filing jointly.

It's hard to say yes or no. There are many different scenarios that may make ti different, if you make TONS of money, it can sometimes be adventageous to file separately. There are special rules for married filing seprate and deduction limitations. It's really a case by case thing. Do the scenarios yourself since you have the w-2's 1098-9,s k-1s etc. That will be more difinitive. If you find it difficult see an accountant, they should be happy to tell you.
