Hi there...some cats do urinate in the corners rather than in the middle of the litter boxes. It's a personal preference and every cat is quite individual with their behaviours.

I have three cats and the litter gets changed at least once a week. I think your litter needs to be replaced more often.I also take out the 'poo'out daily and make sure the litter is mixed around to avoid certain areas becoming wet as they tend to use them more . ensure you use a good cat litter ( catsan is brilliant). Even tho your 'toms' have been neutered they still leave a smell and eventually it will become overpowering for each other. Two litter boxes should be sufficient and you may want to invest in one with a hood..as it make it their own'private' world!! I don't use liners...they are a waste of money ! The boxes are plastic and can be cleaned easily.
You will find that the cats will also 'Mine ' the litter boxes without lids and sometimes there is more litter outside than in. Why? Because they can!!!
good luck >^..^<

Well it sounds like you take excellent care of you cats first off. My cats pee in the front of the litter box and defecate in the back, I think these types of behaviours are purely personal preference for the cats. I also tried the litter liners and had no luck because, like you said, after a day they were torn up. Perhaps the cats need a bigger litter box? Just an idea depending on how big your kitties are. Other than that I think it is just their way of doing things. You could rinse out the kitty litter box every couple weeks if that would make scooping easier. Just another idea.
Good luck with your kitties.

OK, funny you should ask that question...I have two cats as well, with two litter boxes, only my cats use one box, why I dont know. Anyhow, they do the same thing that your cats do..pee in the corners. It's probably a dominance thing. One of my cats goes nuts kicking the litter out of the box so there's always a nice pile of litter outside of the box. I'm constantly cleaning out the box and sweeping litter. As far as a solution to scraping corners, I found that dusting baking soda over the semi-dry urine absorbs it into clumps so it will be easier to scoop....hope it works for you.

Last year my beautiful Manx cat Theodore went out for the evening and never came back. I love cats and the house didn't feel the same without one, so I picked up Lola from a rescue centre. She was very frightened and would pee all over the house. I found Cat Spraying No More on the internet and the techniques worked almost immediately. I haven't had a problem with Lola since. Amazing!
Can't stop your cat peeing in the house? Then worry no more...

liners are hopeless unless you have declawed cats. i dont quite know why they do it in the corners, but usually once a cat starts a pattern he wont break it. do you use the clumping littler? i know that no matter how big a litter box i use the silly cats will often end up hanging it over the side and dropping their goodies on the mat below, ive had so many cats in my lifetime i cant count them, but it seems if you had a litter box as big as a bed they would still drop one over the side now and then, some times thats a good reason for getting the boxes with the little house like cover, if you get one of those put a stick up in it weekly to help with the trapped odors buliding up. it might help keeping them from getting so close to the corners too due to the roof over them. its just a thought.

Hey, take it from a Vet Tech. This is very common, especially for male cats, for some reason.
I don't think you should fuss with them. Cats can be picky about the litterbox and if you try to get them to stop using it comfortably they may stop using it all together. You don't want that.
Anyway, the clumps just stick to the bottom, so it's the same deal only deeper in the box.
If you want to try something, how about cardboard cut to the size of the corners. Sort of turn the corners "inside out" with cardboard. A plastic cup or bowl might work too.
But my official vote is to leave well enough alone.

This behavior actually stems from the wild. Animals like to have their backs to a wall so that they are protected on three sides and can see predators coming. They feel vulnerable when they are going potty and they are probably looking to make sure the other one or someone else doesn't sneak up on them. It's just instinct. It's also cute! Also, Three inches of litter is the best amount to keep in the box at all times. That's what I do and it works great! Hope this helps!
