Quite simply no. I'm running Vista Ultimate at the moment (RC2) and it seems to be ok, but I've got 2Gb of RAM. I had it running on a virtual machine with the minimum requirements and it was really poor, I wouldn't go lower than 1Gb RAM and a Pentium D processor.

The recommendation from Microsoft is 512 Mb but it also depends wat version of Vista you r trying to install but the minimum requirements must be met to continue the installation. So I don't think the system will let you go further with 256MB.

I think in general vista needs 512mb, getting extra memory won't cost the earth you can get an extra 512mb module for around £40.

As XP runs better on 1gb than it does on 512mb I would suggest getting at least 1gb of memory.

Get the vista upgrade advisor from http://www.microsoft.com/windowsvista/getready/upgradeadvisor/default.mspx
this will tell you what you would need.

Why would you want to run Vista? its an unstable glitchy system that prevents you from running a lot of software, wait till about 2010 then it should be an ok operating system.

Stick with XP its much nicer.

If it let you load the program, it would be too slow to process any viable information.. You need a minimum of 512.. Recommended 1GB of memory
