...if monotheism never came about? I'm reading a book on monotheism vs. polytheism. What do you think the world today would be like if the bible or Quran or Torah was never written and the idea of one god never came about? Where do you think we would be with science, politics, morals, etc?

The world would have destroyed itself long ago if God had not revealed Himself in the Bible.

Even though there are still some who listen to God and walk in His commandments, look how the world acts like animals towards one another.

It is filled with selfish people who want their own way and don't care if other people get hurt as long as they get to satisfy themselves.

They would have destroyed it all if not for the power of the God who created it.

I think a better job on ethics and morals could be devised by dropping the deity/deities and devoting the entire known truth to a better way of life . Voltaire thought this would happen in 100 years in the 1700's maybe it will occur at some latter date and he was just too far ahead of his time although I do see his many flaws as well.
No problem can be solved from the same level of consciousness that created it.

Well the Greeks and the Romans were the most advanced civilizations in the world back when they were worshiping multiple Gods so from that I would say we would be pretty advanced. They were advanced in Philosophy. Athletics, Science and Astronomy. It was only after Christians came along that science was suppressed. Of course they were barbaric but that was the barbaric times even those with one God were barbaric. BB

i think it'll be a really corrupted world! lolz, but it's true.

when we know God exists, we (some of us atleast) feel secure, and sometimes comforted. and of course piety would bring about SOME good qualities, and there'd be less dishonesty, hatred etc.

besides. we couldn't have developed so much if such religious books had never been written
think about it: there's so much science in the Quran, and even the bible, i've heard. religion is basically a way of life, a very practical way of life, and without such a guide i doubt mankind would be able to carry on pretty well.
certain religious books even teach us of law & economic systems, and if they didnt exist, it would have taken us years to fgure it all out!

It would certainly depend on what the collective consciousness (humanity) desire to experience.

Going on what is known to us now one could possibily compare the cultures of the Greeks and Romans when they practice and believed in Mythology.

Another example could be of the various cultures of the Native Americans.

Even another example of the lifestyle and culture of the Mayan and Aztec civilations.

From what I am aware of: in my opinion there seems to be a lot of positve elements in each of these examples.

People quickly realise religion is b.s. after reassessing the god of hate, the god of the rock, the god of hunger, the goddess of marriage, the goddess of lunch time, the goddess of love, the god of horniness, etc.

We'd realise the silliness of attributing everything to certain gods.

Much like it is today. But maybe we would be taking better care of the Earth and all that lives on it as the CREATOR originally called upon us to do.

exactly how it is now. Cos as a global society we are not living as if there is a god anyway.
Sorry to be gloomy, its just what i think.

it would be a lost world, no rights no wrongs, no punishment and no good deeds, etc. Thank God for religion.
