My daughter shaved her head last year when she found out she had lung cancer. In six months time it had grown out long enough that it was cut into a cute boy cut. Almost 1 year later it is of normal length to her chin in a bob, and she has cut it several times since the surgery last February. I wanted to tell you that I think what you are thinking of doing is wonderful. You also can donate it to have wigs made for people who have cancer and have lost their hair.

There are many factors that can attribute to hair recession or massive hair fall and you need to find out which one exactly is responsible for the problem you are having now. Of course male pattern baldness is still the most common cause, but, for instance, if you are a woman things are deinitely different! This is the reason why you will need to really dig down and see the source of your problem.

Other causes of hair loss may include (both in men and women): severe mental or emotional stress, excessive use of coloring or bleaching agents, traction alopecia or excessive strain on the scalp due to braiding or corn rowing, hormonal changes, alopecia areata or hair loss due to autoimmune diseases, and many more. Each of these conditions will require a different approach in order to achieve success regardless of whether you're going to be using conventional or natural methods.

In my opinion it's much better to use natural methods as opposed to conventional ones, they're cheaper, have less to no side effects, and often more effective.

A good way of regaining your full head of healthy natural hair is well described on this guide: http://hairagain.toptips.org

I think its a wonderful idea too. But, please do NOT donate the hair to Locks of Love. They DO NOT make wigs for children with cancer who have short term hair loss from chemotherapy. They donate wigs to disadvantaged (on a financial sliding scale) children with PERMANENT loss for a condition called ALOPECIA areata: http://www.naaf.org/ Very rarely will a child lose their hair permanently from chemotherapy.

If you want to donate hair to a charity that WILL make wigs for children suffering from short term hair loss caused by chemotherapy. The charity is WIGS FOR KIDS : http://www.wigsforkids.org/

You can verify any of this information online at LOL website which clearly states 'long term' medical hair loss from alopecia. The general public is extremely confused about this issue and the company that sponsors LOL is misleading the public by not stating that rarely will a child with cancer receive a wig. There is also questions raised about how many wigs they actually make, what happens to the hair donations (they are sold overseas), why families are being charged for the wigs.

Wigs for Kids is the charity that focuses on children with hair loss from chemotherapy.

I really think that LOL is good for those kids suffering from alopecia, but dislike the misinformation that they make wigs for kids who've lost hair from chemotherapy. Any good organization would clear that misconception up. But they don't.

Hair grows at a rate of about 1/2 an inch a month (0.44 mm a day), or about 6 inches every 12 months. Good luck in your fund raiser, and color me impressed with your effort & determination for such a great cause.

in case you surely need to shave your head...maximum human beings's hair advance a million/4 of in inch in a month. in the adventure that your hair grows speedy it ought to advance a million/2 an inch a month. So it might take it a year or greater to be shoulder length. I advise purely cutiing it shorter than it already is and in keeping with threat it is going to be greater hassle-free to artwork with.

The average hair growth is 1/2" per month, which is 6" per year. However, that is only the average, and some people actually have hair growth at twice that amount. Which would be 1" per month, and 12" per year. You can also take certain vitamins, like Biotin, which will increase hair growth dramatically. Also, you can sell your hair at: http://hairbuyer.com

I am so sorry to hear that ..but that is a great idea.... have someone do an initial cut and donate your hair to Locks of Love. They make wigs for children who have lost their har from chemo.

My son shaved his head when his friend lost his hair from chemo...but we never thought of doing it as a fund raiser.

My hair was really short when my son was in1st grade, by the time he hot to high school, it was way below my waist when braided.

i think in twelve months it would be about a bit past your ears, but hey it's for a very good cause and look at it like this now you'll be getting people saying how much they admire you for doing something for others who really need it and you can buy all types of wigs and change your hair whenever you want, the length color style and all that all alone would be orth it how many people can do that?!

One of my friends just lost all of his hair due to chemotherapy. I would say in a year or year & a half it grew back (his was long) & it was thicker & healthier looking than it was before.
