Everyone who has answered this question so far seems to be speaking from "what they've heard."

i attend a pentecostal church. Yes, we are christians. We believe that Christ is the promised Messiah and that He lived a perfect life, died on the cross, and rose again to conquer death once and for all. He is the Lamb of God who covers the sin of the world.

The term pentecostal comes from the day of pentecost, when the church was founded. The Holy Spirit, the Comforter, came down to earth to give believers power to do God's will.
Other denominations do not believe that God's gifts of the Holy Spirit exist today. Why they do not believe this i do not know. God is a God of miracles, and is the same yesterday, today, and forever. In addition, pentecostals are not a sect. They are the fasting growing denomination within Christianity. There is power in the name of Jesus. In His name alone has God given the power to forgive sins.

Pentcostals and Christians are one and the same, believing that one must believe and accept Jesus Christ as their Saviour, and that God The Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit are One.
There are come that believe in the active gifts of the Holy Spirit and some who do not believe that the gifts are necessary for this age of the church.

Yes they are Christian. They believe the Bible.

Pentecost refers to the baptism of Holy Spirit in acts 2. Pentecostals believe strongly in this, but are Christians nonetheless.

All you have to do really is believe in Christ add His teachings.

Pentecostals are a christian sect....or subdivision if you like.

Protestants are masters at splitting doctrinal hairs and breaking off into new churches. Pentecostals are the one who believe in speaking in tongue, playing with snakes etc.

They are barely Christians.....they are hung up on a gloom and doom view of the world (many in my family are pentecostals) and of course, their own interpretation of Scriptures. Why do you think there's so many factions of them?
