My vet actually told me to use Johnson & Johnson Baby shampoo on my Pomeranian as it was gentle, dry scratchy skin and they smell just like a baby! I would suggest the same for your dog. Good luck to you!

My favourite to use on my Shih-Tzu X Toy Poodle is a shampoo called 'Fido's Everyday Shampoo'.... leaves her beautifully soft & smelling great for days (cuz she's an inside dog, outside dogs get smellier quicklier hehe) but I'm assuming you wouldn't leave a Shih-Tzu outside anyways.... If you prefer to use a bar of soap, then i suggest using 'Sunlight Soap' but soaps can be drying... I suggest using a dog shampoo & possibly a dog conditioner if yours has a long coat.
Remember they have doggie shampoos for a reason..!!!!

There are dog shampoos sold for a reason...they are for dogs!!
Oatmeal shampoo is best for their coat. Because my Tzu had some skin problems, actually yeast in her skin, my vet said to use Selcun Blue Medicted shampoo to get rid of the yeast. It did. I get my shampoo from my groomer, she gives me a small container of it to use on my dogs until they get groomed again. (she is nice like that) . At least it is consistent and I don't have to worry about different skin reactions. Tzu's can have a lot of skin issues. You could ask your vet what they recommend...or your groomer what they use. But stick to a dog shampoo preferably with Oatmeal.

You can of course go to the store and get any kind of dog shampoo but if you are looking to save some money and use something that works just as good you can use normal anti-bacterial hand soap. That is what us use unless going to a show and it works great.

I'm sure your asking that because the poor thing probably has what one would refer to as "doggy odor" you can use a regular doggy shampoo as well as a vinegar and water rinse. Some dogs just smell in general, so only thing you can do is just to bathe them, there is no magic formula to cure the stink...hope this helps

You can use a dog shampoo. Soap and human shampoo are too drying for a dog.

You can use any dog shampoo that you would find at your local grocery store or pet store. I use Groomax Soothing Oatmeal Shampoo from Petsmart. Never, EVER use human shampoo on your dog. It will dry and irritate their skin.

A dog shampoo or baby shampoo works best. Anything else may irritate a dog's sensitive skin.

Old fashioned lye sope. The stuff with no additives or anything in it. ) If you must wash your dog, that's the best stuff. It's what I use on myself, and what i've used on every dog I've ever had. Makes their coats super shiny, doesn't smell strongly (remember dog's have a phenomenal sense of smell), and doesn't cause any skin irritation. It also has the benefit of relieving itching and killing fleas. All without harmful chemicals.
