Okay you're totally against stem cell research AND you're totally against homosexuality. But what if stem cell research could CURE homosexuality, since you believe it's curable? Would you support stem cell research then?

Not all stem cell research is immoral, and homosexuality is not necessarily a biological disorder. The evidence claiming that is, is inconclusive.

Stem cell research that involves the disposal of human beings in the early stages is still murder.

Homosexuals can still live a life of chastity and holiness. What you are demanding is an answer to a question that is absurd.

Can they make a pill to cure lonliness or stop men from cheating on their wives?
I double dog dare you to answer that question. The reasoning is the same as yours.

I have a question for you! What does Stem Cell Research have to do with human sinful desire? I didn't know Evil Desire and lust could cure matters of the heart! The only way to cure homosexuality is through the love of Jesus Christ and our Father God! 1 Cor. 6:11 And that (Homosexual offenders) is what some of you were. But your were washed, your were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God. Matt. 15:19-20. Out of the heart come evil thoughts, murder, adultery and sexual immorality (or homosexuality). As far as I know stem cell research has nothing to do with the heart and are choice to live by are own human will.

Even if stem cells could cure biological tendencies, that doesn't mean they will have any effect on behavioral tendencies. Your analogy is flawed, and you're just looking to stir things up. Now, if you were asking somethingsuch as what the causes of homosexuality are and what stem cells can (or can't) cure, then we could see if your correlation between the two would have any bearing on what you're asking. Good luck getting a, uh, straight answer.

I'm a Christian. I don't believe homosexuality is a disease, I believe it's a sin. I don't believe it's curable, anymore than I believe a thief, a liar, or a murderer can be cured...they all can be forgiven though, because God sacrificed his son Jesus Christ for our sins.
There's an alternative to fetal stem cell research, it's called amniotic fluid stem cell reasearch. If anything can be cured through stem cell research, then it can and no child has to die for it.
The only thing that can be accomplished through bating Christians is self-aggrandizing.

Have been labled a christian since my birth but have come to learn that I am simply a Jesus freak.Meaning that I believe what He taught and try to follow the example He gave me.Stem cell research, if we come to the understanding of the truth that Jesus died for , we would realize that all diseases are created by man and believe it or not ,a man or woman will eventually give us the magic cure.Who better to give you the cure than the one who gave you the ailment.
Most of us are a product of our environment and homosexuality has it's own hidden agenda and it is way more than a choice of lifestyle. We all have the gift of making our own choices. Common sense should tell us that it is not natural and the diseases that can result from this lifestyle can be and are still incurable. One should not take such chances with someone you love. Knowing His truth I do not hold anything against anyone , your choice. But I am not Jesus and may not turn the other cheek when it is damaging to our children.

No, as a Jehovah's Witness, I still wouldn't support it. The embryo would die in the process of the harvesting the stem cells. At Exodus 21:22, 23 it is brought out that if a pregnant woman was injured to the point where she had a miscarriage the person that injured her would have to pay with their life. Even though as Christians we're no longer under the Mosaic Law, God himself doesn't change (Mal 3:6) so he still values the embryo's life.

You can actually get stem cells actually from the blood, bone marrow, pancreas and even the gastrointestinal tract of an adult. Hematopoietic stem cells (HSCs) are actually already used in treating some types of leukemia. The use of this technology to cure diseases, if one considers homosexuality to be a disease, might differ from person to person depending on their personal values especially if for a Witness it involves whole or components of blood.

I personally would rather wait for Jehovah God to bring mankind into perfection in Paradise rather that take part in medical procedure that involves breaking his laws to extend my life. He is loyal and won't forget the works I've done in his behalf. (Psalm 37: 11, 29; Luke 9:24, 25; Isaiah 33:24; Hebrews 6:10-12)

[By the way, I am straight. I highly prefer the opposite sex. LOL]

Christianity is based on the sanctity of life. That means every human being has value in God's eyes because we were all created by Him. God cares about each one of us equally, no matter who we are or what we have done. Therefore it would be against God to end another person's life prematurely. Knowing that christians believe all human life is sacred, and that most christians believe life begins at conception, what kind of hypocrites would we be if we endorsed killing embryos for scientific research?

Christians are not against stem cell research per se, but many are against harvesting the stem cells from human embryos. If we could find a way to get stem cells without killing embryos most christians would be fine with that.

As far as homosexuals go, according to the Bible they are just as valued by God as any other person.

The Bible does tell christians to behave in a certain way. There are all kinds of things christians should do to honor God and live the way He intended us to live when He created us.

If you are not a christian I suppose you don't have to worry about those standards. However, when any non-christian group tries to impose their moral standards on christians which doesn't match what the Bible tells them is right, christians will sometimes feel threatened and try to defend their values. That is why some christians have become angry (and frankly said un-wise things) at homosexuals. Ironically homosexuals are also defensive about their lifestyle choices for the same reasons - nobody wants to be told what to do.

Christians believe that all human life is sacred and equally valued by God - whether they call themselves heterosexuals, homosexuals or are just unborn human embryos. So ending the life of one for another would be against our basic values.

>>Okay you're totally against stem cell research<<

No, only the kind that kills human beings. Here is an article that appeared just a few days ago:

Vatican welcomes new stem cell advance
Reuters
Tue Jan 9, 11:28 AM ET

The Vatican on Tuesday welcomed a new way of extracting stem cells that does not use human embryos, calling it a significant advance that could help medical research without going against Roman Catholic beliefs.

Cardinal Javier Lozano Barragan, head of the Vatican's Pontifical Council for Health Pastoral Care, said the discovery showed medicine can progress without destroying human embryos.

U.S. researchers reported on Sunday that stem cells found in the amniotic fluid protecting babies in the womb were nearly as powerful as embryonic stem cells in producing adaptable cells that scientists hope can someday transform medicine.

The Catholic Church and other religious groups have been staunch critics of the most common method of stem cell research, which involves extracting cells from human embryos, because they believe such organisms are humans from the moment of conception.

"I am very glad to see this progress in the field of science for the good of humankind," Barragan told Vatican Radio on Tuesday, noting it did not violate "the life of the donor."

In an interview with the Italian daily La Stampa on Monday, he called the discovery "a very significant and ethically admissible advance" in the search for cells that can create muscle, bone and other cells to replace damaged ones.

Barragan said the Vatican was not opposed to all stem cell research. "The Church is not obscurantist and is always ready to welcome real scientific progress that neither threatens nor manipulates the sources of life," he said.

"Our task as a church is not to oppose the oratory (that is, faith) and the laboratory (or rather, science), nor to transform science into faith," he said.

1) People need to learn the difference between *embryonic* stem cell research--which has not been proven to cure anything--and, *adult* stem cell research--which has.

2) Homosexuality is not a physical disease that can be cured by research. It is a part of the disease of sin.

3) The answer to your question is no.

I as a Christian am not against stem cell research; I'm just against the destroying of embryos in the harvesting of stem cells.
Your question implies that gays are born that way; that it's a genetic trait, which I'm not convinced is the case.
