The AK-47 is superior to our M16's to a point. Anything more then about 200 meters and it drops off, bad!! But comparing the durability, reliability(if maintance properly), jamming(stove piping) and all that then the AK-47 is superior. But if your looking for distance and tht sort of thing then the M16 is better. Also the AK47 has less moving parts so its easier to maintain. It was basically made to survive harsh winters and and hot as hell summers, the M16 was made more for the warm and hot environments and not freezing temps, cause believe it or not it will freeze up in sub-zero temps and that is why it is not commonly used by the 10th Mountain Division of the US Army cause they usually are in high altitude environments and freezing temps all the time.

The Ak-47 is an open system, which makes it less accurate at long range, but way more durable. Tests have been done where we poured toothpaste into one, and fired it at targets. We wanted to see what would happen, because we heard it would still fire. It fired. We wouldnt even attempt it with our M-16's because we were afraid the weapon would explode. The M-16's are very prone to jamming, any amount of dirt will cause a misfire. I had this happen in a firefight, and had to scramble to fix it.

It depends on what you're looking for. Not many are going to accuse it of being a fine precision weapon. Its loose tolerances mean that you can fill it with dirt and there's still enough room between parts that it'll probably fire. The barrel is chrome-lined because it's assumed the user is too stupid to clean it. And even though it fires a relatively small bullet at only modest velocities, it is 30 caliber, which some prefer to 22. And it can on a good day keep its bullets within the same county as your aiming point. For those who prefer "spray and pray," this is not a problem.

Any weapon is superior when placed in the right hands. Its not the weapon, its the person using it. A weapon is only a tool that can do nothing without a person. Any moron can pick up a gun and pull the trigger. The AK is a tough, reliable weapon. The m-16 is more accurate and deadlier when placed in the hands of a US soldier or Marine.

Its a bigger caliber than the m-16, but the m-16 is far more accurate. In the hands of a terrorist, no, they are the pray and spray type, which is what the ak is good for, but put the m-16 in the hands of a soldier or marine and its far superior to the ak.

It's not superior compared to American weapons used in Iraq today. However, it has its advantages. Simple mechanisms that's easy to maintain. You can disassemble and reassemble an AK-47 in a few minutes. It can withstand any weather (freezing weather, rain, very hot weather). It is also produced in large quantities, so parts and ammunition are very easy to get.

Only as a short-range spray and pray weapon, This gun was developed along the lines of Soviet military doctrine, which meant a flood of comerades fring their weapons and hoping to hit. It is NOT a very accuarte weapon. The ONLY reason for it's prestige is because it is durable and easy to manufacture. Pop culture and commentators have over-rated the gun. 220 meters? HAH. Right! Dream on.

Different schools of thought on that. Superior in that it's more sturdy, can be used as a bludgeoning weapon without being damaged, less jamming, easy adjustable sites. On the flip side, I hear that it can be less accurate when fired in bursts.

I'm sure someone else has more info to add.

depends what you are using it for. if you are crawling through the mud into an enemy territory and have the weapon in the mud with you to keep your cover.Yes it is one heck of a weapon. still works even when in the mud. if you are trying to hit someone 500 meters away that is sitting next to a hostage, I would recomend not using it. at least not if I am the hostage. it is good for dealing with large numbers of enemies close together, as long as you are used to the kidk it has, otherwise you will be killing a lot of birds, but not many people.
