For information relating to your question, I would use this form: https://www.cgangel.net/cgInformation.asp
Now, to answer your question, since the coast guard is a branch of the military, and I know for a fact that in the Army you get paid in basic training, I would have to say yes.
Also, your pay is not reduced, as another poster said. You get paid based on time in service. Just entering, you will not be making as much as someone who has been in the military longer.
You get to spend your money while in basic, but you are limited on what you can buy, so you do not spend very much money.

Yes you get paid as an E-1 unless you have education then maybe as an E-2. I guess it depends on if you have a good recruiter or not on which pay level you get.
Everything is provided for you while you are there so you don't have to spend much money, honestly you don't have much freedom for those few weeks so you don't really have a chance to spend.
An E-1 makes about 1200 dollars or so a month versus E-2 at 1400. After boot camp you can add your housing allowance to that. Housing allowance depends on where you live. So anywhere from 500 to 700 dollars, maybe more. Plus all your health care is free. Pretty good deal. Go see a recruiter.

All military personnel in all branches are paid during boot camp. Now, you won't see any of that money until you are about graduate. While there, you will not need it, as everything you need will be provided.
