Actually you can get both!! You can get an insert for a sliding glass door. It is a panel, that has a dog door at the bottom, and usually some kind of metal going to the top of the entrance way. You can also buy a storm door with a pet door already installed, or you can buy a regular storm door and install a pet door. And there are instructions to install a pet door into a wall if you want. And you can install them in a regular solid core door. The ones that are pre-installed in a storm door are kind usually for a pet 100 lbs or less. If you dog is small, I don't recommend it. I have 2 shih-tzu's and I got a medium door 20-40 lbs which is perfect for them. The small door is probably for cats and small terriers. Check on the box. I believe the inserts come in different sizes depending on the size of your dog. I have seen them in Lowes and Home Depot. Or you may have to special order them or go on line to get them. Just the pet door itself you can get at most pet stores.

The most important thing to take into account with a dog door is size. Some doors are big enough for a small person to fit through. Understandably they are designed for large dogs, but unless you have a Great Dane, it is unlikely you will need the largest size.
When buying the door, choose one that takes into account the width of your dogs shoulders and the height of their back. Most products have the recommended dog weights on the back of the box, so it shouldn't be difficult finding the one most suited to your pet. It is worth remembering that whilst you can change a dog door for a bigger one without any hassle, the only way you can downsize is by replacing the entire door.
Deciding where you place the door is also an important factor. Most dog doors are fitted to a home's back door, which allows the pet access to the garden. This is the safest option as it usually it is not visible from the road. However, If your back garden is not hidden from view, ensure you position the pet flap correctly on the door. If you fit the door too high or to a particular side, a person may be able to put their arm through the flap and unlock the door.

NEVER leave your dog in a parked car. Even with the windows cracked open, temperatures can rise quickly causing your beloved pet to suffer heatstroke or even death. What you think may be a quick errand can turn into a 20 minute delay that could endanger your best friend’s life. On a 95 degree day, your car can turn into a 130 degree oven in only 30 minutes. Don’t take a chance – leave your pet home while you run to the store.

Good question. I personally don't have a doggy door. But, my friends that have doggy doors usually remove the security door before the doggy door is installed.
So, the answer to that question would be no. Unless there is something recently introduced to the public that I'm not aware of. Good luck with your search.

$$$$$ if you want one ready to order.
People can slide through pet doors because their bodies can be compacted. Pets don't need a perfectly comfortable entrance. Get a small door and your pet can squeeze through a space a human cannot.
