No, I wouldn't choose the color of my son's car. It's still his car even if I'm paying for it so it should be his choice of color.

My dad never bought me a car and as much as i hated him for it when i was 16 when all my friends had cars, i thanked him for it later on once i had worked hard and paid for my own car. It really had a great impact on me and taught me a huge lesson in responsibility. Plus, i was so proud of myself and it was great for my confidence! But, if you insist on buying him a car and you want to chose the color due to safety reasons, i think you should. Obviously it wouldnt be smart to buy him a bright red or yellow car that would attract police, or people looking for an easy fraudulant insurance claim, and often times greyish colored cars are diffucult for other drivers to see. I didnt have much growing up and was thankful for everything i did have! If my parents were buying me a car the last thing i would do is complain about the color of it! He should be happy with whatever it is he gets, and if hes not, take the car back and let him chose the color of his bike!

Who knows? My son won my car from me on a bet!! I bit him that the coach would not let him kick 3 field goals in his Jr. year (his first year) at a H.S. season opener - I was wrong! He got all 3 and he didn't care what color the car was!! Oh! how I loved that car! A burgundy Nissan 300 ZX - 5 speed with T-tops, oh yes and a phone!! The color does not matter - it is wheels!!

No you don't. If it's your son's car let him pick the color if the color of the car is within your affordability. But if you want to pick the color buy yourself a car.

You do not choose the color and, far more important, you do not buy your son a car. Let him work and save until he has enough money to buy his own car. Only then will he truly value and appreciate it. It's a mistake for parents to buy cars for their children. Let 'em walk or take the bus until they are old enough and responsible enough to finance their own cars.

I would let him...as long as it's not hot pink or something lol...Could you compromise? I'm assuming you dont' like the color or something. Give him 3 choices that you both could be happy with.
