I having been going out with a guy for seven years and we get on fantasticly well, for the last 4 years he was being saying he would move in at Xmas, and it never happened, I made it clear to him that he had to make a decision by Xmas just gone as I was beginning to think our relationship wasn't going anywhere and becoming a joke . So instead of verbalising an answer he dropped me off at home Xmas day and hasn't been seen since. Was an Ultimadum the wrong thing to do? I really feel now that I was being taken for a ride.

I was begining to get tired of hearing "when I move in" He'd been telling everyone for years he was doing it, we had discussed it at length when I said after all this time a decision had to be made and he agreed after 7 years it was make or break. I think what a find most disappointing is he never said a word either way just drove off

You made an ultimatum and he answered it. If you didn't want to accept that he might not give you the answer you didn't want, then you should never had made the ultimatum. Personally, I think you should talked to him instead of making final demands. As it stands, you don't know if his not moving in with you had anything really to do with you or if something else was going on in his life to affect his decision. Which is why you're here.

First you said that you were doing fantastically well. For you to give him an ultimatum was probably not the wisest thing to do. It did expose his true ideals, that yoyu were not worth staying and fighting for. Over all I would have to say that you are better off without him. If you plan on looking for another mate I would recommend staying in a positive state of mind. You will find someone that will make you happy.

No, maybe he is not ready for that kind of commitment. But what do you know? you've been together for seven years and still not ready! You have got to move on and choose a better guy cause like what you said he is just taking you for a ride. You're just his meantime girl and if he is really not ready he should have told you not took off like bullets where on his trail. You deserve someone better who will learn to take care of you. He never should have said things that he doesn't mean. Don't settle for less.

Personally I don't think that was a bad move on your part. Obviously you care about him if you have been with him for seven years. Something was wrong on his part not yours. If that small step in committment was too much for him then you should try to move on because honestly you deserve a round of applause for being brave enough to step up to the plate.

You did the right ting. You put way too much time into someone that would just drop you like that. Be proud you stood your ground!
