believe in god? And then if you don't, you get your *** fried off in hell? How stupid is that? Why would believing in him make any difference to what happens to you at all, when you should be judged by how well you lived your life?

There are lots of Christians that agree.

Unfortunately, Fundamentalism is too successful, and chases many sensible Christians off the Island and into the Agnostic Lagoon.

First, since you seem to think you WILL be "judged" at the end of your life - who do you think will do it? Second, I agree that God makes NO sense - or rather, not much intuitive sense. Then again, neither do a lot of things; for example, quantum physics.

On a practical note, I tried to describe the concept of force and momentum to my 9 1/2 yo yesterday. I explained that a large truck moving 1 mph could throw a person many yards. He said, "That makes no sense! It's going too slow!" It is the same for many adults. However, human intuition doesn't affect the fact that momentum equals mass times velocity (simply, a matter of the weight of an object AND its speed, not just its speed).

My point is that just because something isn't intuitve at first glance, doesn't make it untrue. Momentum is real. Molecules exist. Fire looks cold but burns. God is really there. All of these are truisms whether you believe or not. Sometimes you just have to delve into an idea before making a judgement.

I guess in your own limited knowledge about god, you curse at your own ignorance. If you were from a healthy family, that would pretty much picture god's rules in his house. If you disown your human father and live as though you're the authority in the house, I bet you'd be kicked out from the comforts of your home and into the streets of uncertainty-- which may end up being a hell of a place for you.

Good point...
Nick of Tyme-- that makes NO sense. The Titus quote is not Jesus' word, but some apostle trying to make sense of Jesus' word. Doesn't mean that you can go thru your whole life an a**hole, and go to heaven just because you believed in God? And as far as Galatians goes, we're talking about good behavior, not the Law...

There are people with very evil hearts who live lives that are exemplary to the outside world, but inside they are rebelling against God, so, are they good people? God knows what is in men's hearts.

His Word - not mine.

Titus 3:5 Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost;

Galatians 2:16 Knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law, but by the faith of Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Jesus Christ, that we might be justified by the faith of Christ, and not by the works of the law: for by the works of the law shall no flesh be justified.

Unfortunately, due to nature of Adam's original sin, all men are born separated from God, in a state of sin, and dedicated to Satan the devil.

The only soul-ution to that problem is baptism into the church of Jesus Christ.

Anyone who, during this life, fails to reject Satan, repent of his sins, and swear fidelity to the one, true God, is doomed.

It doesn't make any difference to me, I know where I am in the sight of God. I just wish I could help others.
