light smoker, but after being inside a public smoking place ( inside ) you can assure that you will smell like a smoker, your hair, your skin, you name the rest. Is that nice?

I live in NY state. Here there is a ban for smoking in public buildings and now in restaurants and bars. I believe they are even considering legislation that would make it illegal to smoke with a certain distance to the entrances of buildings (a rule that most of the private sector embraces).

As an ex-smoker, I think the law is great. When I was a smoker, I thought the law was great. Smoking is a personal habit and there are tons of studies and plenty of research that states that 2nd hand smoke causes all sorts of physiological problems including increasing the risk of cancer. Smokers should not be inflicting their personal choice to kill themselves slowly on innocent bystanders (like children!).

I think smoking should be banned everywhere, but then they can't afford to lose the tax revenue from them. They just banned smoking in a car if you have a child with you in Bangor, Me. They say the fines will be used to help defray the cost of public health care but we all know that is BS. Our governor is talking about raising the tax on them another dollar too for the same reason
What I don't understand is why is it just cigarettes. Shouldn't all alcohol beverages be taxed the same way. There are people hurt and killed all the time by impaired or drunk drivers, and that is instantly not over years like smoking is.

My parents smoke and I hate it so much.My clothes always smell like it no matter what I do and it's very annoying.I personally don't think you go to a restaurant to smoke. But if they do have smoking sections, they should at least have them so that the smoke doesn't drift into the non-smoking.

This is the greatest law since the 10 commandments. Now I can go to strip joints and pool halls without having to come home to my wife stinking of tobacco.
