Yes, I have a few female friends with whom I am close. My wife knows them and I have made sure that she knows there is no cause for jealousy.
If you are open about those friendships with your spouse, it should work. Make sure the spouse has first priority in your life, but then I hope you can enjoy other cross-gender friendships.
As a man, I have found that women can be wonderful and caring friends.
