You'll want to get materials from the organization you'll be giving the money to, so people can see where it's going. They'll have pictures, too. Then you can tell the story of one person who has been helped, and how much it costs. For example, you can talk about how it costs $23 a month to feed and educate a child in Ethiopia. Or, you can talk about one town and how much it would cost to put in a well so they can have clean water, and how it would affect a family who has to walk several miles to get buckets of water now and how it kills children when they don't have clean water to drink, and how people get river blindness from bad water. You want to appeal to people's emotions, but also include enough information so that they know intellectually where their money will go.

Well, personally I'd want to know what it is you want (money, clothing, volunteers?) and WHY you want it. If it's monetary donations, where will the money go, who will handle it?, etc. If you're sincere and really have a heart for the people of Africa (I'm assuming it's humanitarian?) then others will jump on board too. definitely go for video and pictures of children, if they have souls, they won't be able to say no. i know every time the commercial come on TV with the little kids, it touches my heart.
