I have trouble with my knee as well. The doctor did an MRI and found out that the back of my knee cap is wearing out. I had to go into physical therapy and the solution was building up the muscles around the knee cap and using deep ice rubs to reduce swelling.
If you feel swelling in your knee, take a paper cup, fill with water and freeze. After it is frozen, tear the cup from around the ice and use a towel to hold it. Rub the ice in a circular motion on each side of the knee cap. You will experience the ice cold burning sensation of having the ice on your skin for so long, but the coldness NEEDS to penetrate and reach deep inside the knee cap to reduce the swelling inside.
I think you should see your doctor about this problem to rule out any wear, or other damage you may have substained. If it is not treated properly, you will have long term damage that may result in the need for corrective surgery.
Best wishes!

heat pack or just about any kind of heat for the area to relax the stiff muscle....if this is ocuring often then try a knee sleeve and cut back a little on your jog distance....this may save your knee from some type of surgery when you are nearing 50 yrs old...

A nice hot bath would do wonders.....
Apply some Ben Gay right b/4 you go to bed, don't forget to wash hands with warm water and soap.....don't touch eyes after using ben gay..It will burn

ice takes down swelling when the injury occurs. heat loosens up the muscles and dialates the blood vessels. should really only use ice for inflammation and heat for stiffness. make sure you are stretching well. stregthen up your quads so your knee caps rides well with the lower legs bones. stronger quads help align the knee cap properly.

Right after the work out apply cold.It prevents swelling.Later you can apply hot.But if I were you I would take 3 PILLS OF JOINT FUEL by TWINLAB everyday. It is a very good product, builts joints and prevents swelling. And plus take 4-5 days off,and stretch .After that try to exercise,if it does not stop see a doctor.
