I was trained years ago at Le Cordon Bleu in Paris.........be prepared for:
Lots of hard work
Being exhausted at the end of the day
Arrogant instructors that treat you like they were treated when they were in culinary school
Lots of cuts, bruises and burns....When it comes to human tissue versus a sharp Chef's knife, the knife will win, everytime....
Now, it you can stick this all out and swallow your pride, you'll have made it into the elite ranks of being a great Chef, in which you can take pride that you can and will be able to WOW all your family , friends, and guests with the gastronomic delights that you'll be able to whip up with ease........Go for it, sweetie!!!!!

I graduated from Schoolcraft College in Livonia Michigan and their program is excellent! they have four Master Chefs there and the price is better then any Johnson and Wales or Cordon Bleu Schools in America. Schoolcraft is better then them as well.
If you want to spend the money and you want to go to the very beast Culinary School in America then go to the CIA. It's the Culinary Institute of America and it's in Hyde Park New York.
If you want to go to learn the best food in the world then go to France! Because the french take cuisine to a higher level then any other culture. The Cordon Bleu in France might be the best Culinary School in the world. Only thing is you have to speak the language

A lot of hard work and dedication. Prepare for some egotistical Chefs (you'll find them anywhere anyway), and learn to say "Yes, Chef". Don't take things personally, you're there to learn and you'll feel stupid a lot of the times. I wouldn't trade my experience in culinary school for the world.

Big egos, sweat, at least one minor burn, and couple of decent cuts (usually, a finger that can't get out of the way in time), going home (exhausted) to sharpen your knives and study for the next lesson - hope you paid good attention in algebra!
But at the end you'll have life long friends (and connections to the best restaurants, eventually), passion and the skills to make your dreams come true!
Good Luck!!!
