My sister is 50. I am 10 years younger. We have never gotten along. And we still don't. She is totally selfish, does not care about my Mom, and this has always been the root of our problem. People can change, but at this age, I have given up on thinking a miracle will happen anymore. We just don't get along. I know a lot of women, older than this, who don't get along with their sisters. Sad but true. Sorry for your situation, but we are in the same boat, as are many I am sure.

Hi, I am 36 and my sister is 39..there is a third sister that is 30. We have a hard time getting along. I have tried everything possible to fix this. All you can do is try and know that you did everything you could. If you are still not getting along you must not blame yourself and get on with your life. I have come to realize that its not always your fault. Sometimes people in your family have problems that you can not be responsible for and you should not put your life on hold for it. Deep down you can love your sister and know you have done your best.

Send her a card at christmas, easter, valentines and her birthday and hope that she will come around. Stop the fighting on your part and hope they will do the same.

I believe that sisters are a very important part of our lives and soon she will realize that as well. Once you pull yourself away from the situation (the fighting situation) hopefully she will come back to you.

Good luck and time will heal (we hope so)

My sister & I don't get along at all, but she's 16 & I'm 22 so I'm hoping that will change when she grows up and changes a few of her habits.

But, I don't see us ever being close, as there is a rather large age difference between us and we've never really gotten along, or at least as well as sisters are 'supposed' to. Plus, we had a rough childhood & lived in separate homes during most of that time. We can't really relate to each other. But we are family and I try my best to get along with her.

I don't have this particular problem, but i know how you feel. Maybe you should try talking too her. You may not get along, but you should strive to find things that you agree on. You two were raised together, you have that in common. You have history and good memories. You will be with her for the rest of your life, you are her flesh and blood.

I'm 37 and I don't get along with my sister, she is 30 so I ignore her, mind my own business and go on with my day, better to keep apart but then again it is always best to send cards here and there let them know you still love em'

I don't get along with my sister if we are together more than a few hours but then again I am raising her child and I love him but its really her lazy butt that should get off drugs and raise him.

You are defintely not alone. My brother and I can not hold a decent conversation. 3-5 minutes into it we are at each others neck. But I love him anyway. It's possible middle child syndrome. Think about it.

just because youre relatives doesnt mean you must be the Cleavers---My sister is 40 and has a very beautiful young child but abuses meth---I find it very easy to dislike her for what she leaves her childs destiny.

Lot's of people have this problem..Sibling rivalry

Don't let it last much longer, you both may regret all the missed time , especially if something were to happen to one of you...(happened between my brother and myself). He went to Gulf War and last time I saw him was his funeral....Too late ...
Don't let it get to late for you.....still hurts to this day...

Age has nothing to do with it; we will have problems with people or relatives all our lives.

The question is - how do we deal with them? Do we give in or do we fight? Do we let go and let God? Take care.
