Deuteronomy 20:16 But of the cities of these people, which the LORD thy God doth give thee for an inheritance, thou shalt save alive nothing that breatheth:
20:17 But thou shalt utterly destroy them; namely, the Hittites, and the Amorites, the Canaanites, and the Perizzites, the Hivites, and the Jebusites; as the LORD thy God hath commanded thee:

So what if it's OT? Did or did not Biblegod make this a command to his followers? If he did, then he is guilty of genocide no matter how Christians try to rationalize it. If he did not, then why do these people insist he did?
And can anyone here tell me with any honesty of an entire real-world tribe of people that could possibly be called "evil"? With not one good person among them?
Orcs or Drow, maybe, but nothing in real life.

Yes. . . Why don't you put in the context?
Err. . . you are not sure? And post this to ask?
Ok. . . .this is probably one of the 2 incidents in the bible, and the bible does not suppot such act after that.
Those that were killed were evil, if you bother to go back to Genesis 15:16, their sin has yet reach it fullness. God had given them 400 yrs to repent, but they did not.
If u don't know, let me share, their evil include children sacrifice, temple prosititute etc. . . .
If God do not spare the Israelite when they sin, will God ever given them chance?
Dear friend, that same God is also giving u chance to change. repent and be saved. Don't be too hard untill u see His glory. . . Too late.
God is meciful, but he is also Holy, and hate evil. My suggestion is, repent, and sin no more.

Gods thoughts are not mans thoughts. That was the old testament, all men believed in the "God" of forces.
Jesus is the Prince of Peace, He came to break the cycle of war, the god of forces. Jesus is Head, and Founder of the Christian church, and His followers live by the principles in the new testament. New cloth will tear away from old cloth.

Mercy and judgment go together. If you don't accept the mercy of God you will eventually recieve the judgment of God..
The folks you mentioned chose not to recieve the mercy of God, so they got Judgment. Is this too hard to understand???
Same thing for the flood, and same thing will happen in the end by fire..
When you go to court you do not sit in judgment of the judge, but you are under his power. Call him names if you want, but there is always a price to be paid for ignoring judgment, nowdays it is called hell and the lake of fire..

Did you read the verse where it says, God is merciful only to those who fear him? I believe mercy is for the
deserving & those obedient to God & justice is for those
who disregard Him. I think that is fair.

There were a number of tribes in the Old Testament that were evil and the Israelites were told to do this on a number of occaisions. We live under a New Testament. You probably already knew this...

God created man with a purpose
God ordered man not to learn about Good and Evil, Right and Wrong.
Man learned.
God didn't KILL OFF the experiment, he simply let man go off on his own.
THAT proves mercy.
WHAT would a scientist do in a petri dish if the bacterium became infectious. Kill it. or let it live.

Read the chapters before and after as well.
Remember, I still believe God is merciful even though he sent down his only son to be beaten and crucified

God didn't say those things. Men of ancient times said them and attributed them to God. Control of the masses. Nothing more, nothing less.
