Okay well , I'm in seventh grade . Never had a boyfriend , never been asked out before . Yet a bunch of people tell me how pretty I am ? It confuses me . I am a very shy person though people will be like "Why don't you talk" or "Why are you so quiet"? I don't know if thats meant in an insulting way or a curious way but do guys not ask me out because I'm shy ? I mean I'm not like deathly shy I do talk I'm just a little you know in-secure ?

Okay when in 7th grade, me too. I had a major crush on a guy who, now, is a huge, ugly retard and im glad nothing happened. You may feel like ur ready to casually date, but im not sure that is the best emotionally. U probably are really pretty, but middle school guys are dumbasses so dont worry about it now. They WILL come. I was very shy also, but that just sort of evolves into personality over time. Some people chose to create personality by warming up to people, and others just have the trouble of finding the people they truly want in their personal lives. I remember how painful it was, but maybe start stepping out lil by lil, with diff people at a time. It will grow into an evolution! guys then are just too immature to know how to react to those elegant reserved beauties like urself! insecurities take everyone, so maybe tackle each one by itself. Like lets say (like me) u had a bit of stomach flab. Take the risk one day NOT to hide it and ull notice that people dont really care all that much. If they do they are shallow.

Ok, first off- dont be in such a rush. I know when your going through jr.high without a bf/gf it seems like eternety, but it will get better- seriously. I'm in 11th grade now and i had never had a gf till 8th grade, yet TONS of girls always told me how cute and sweet i am. It all just comes down to finding the right one. Also, these people that are asking you why your so quiet- if they are guys, they are probably just trying to get you to talk so they can get to know you. It's hard to get seriously intereted in a girl if you know nothing about her. Just be patient and keep your eyes open, you'll be surprised by what you find.

The answer: yes it's b/c your shy. But don't feel bad, because now you have empathy. What I mean is, if a guy tells you your beautiful, he's putting himself out there to be potentialy shot down. Guys are just as shy (and insecure), but in the 7th grade, girls usualy expect the GUY to mak the first move. And all the other one's too. That's why they would start something with you and then just drop it. It's YOU who has to make the second move, b/c it shows him your interested and gives him courage. It doesn't have to be anything big. Respond by doing anything from flashing a big pretty smile, to (if your braver) touching his arm for 2 seconds and giving a small smile with eye contact. Let him know that, "yes, the move you just made on me is good and you should do it again."

hope that helps and remember, he's just as insecure as you. Would you want the guy you hit on to just stand there and say/do nothing?

Good Luck ;)

Well, as much as you probably don't want to hear this, you are still young. 7th grade is about 13 right? Don't be in such a rush. Have fun with your friends. Boys at your age are immature and just as you think that you are shy, so are they. It takes allot for a boy to ask you out, especially if you are pretty. It can be a bit intimidating for them. Hang in there. Your time will come. Good luck :)

Seventh grade boys don't know what they want. And they're shy 2, Maybe it's cause you are pretty and it intimidates them. Maybe they're just scared. In seventh grade your at a highschool mentality, the boys aren't, they're still playin with toy guns and shooting spitballs. Wait till you get in highschool, you won't have to worry about those things. But if your that determined, be a little less shy, Make a move or two, let a guy know you like him, or he'll never know, believe me you just gotta put yourself out there. I promise if you get rejected your not gonna spontaneously burst into flames. Good luck.

Sweetie - every one has the time that is right for them.
For some people, it may be a little younger, for some people it may be when they are a little older.
I have seen 15 and 16 year olds who were not really ready to date and didnt get into the couples scene till they were in their later teens.
So I really would not rush yourself at all. It does not matter what other kids are doing - every one is different.
The right time will come for you - not by pressuring yourself or criticizing yourself.
Just be who you are and enjoy school and activities and interests.
When the time comes for you to date (mid teens maybe - or even later teens, who knows?), it will happen without any effort or trying to be something you are not.
So have confidence in who you are now - not who others want you to be. And don't let their pressure get you down.

Good luck.

You can't help it your shy.I'm in 6th and I used to be like THE DORK.
for 5 years. Then it just changed,i grew out of my shyness.Im not preppy!!!My advice is stick with you true friends(even the dorks)and stay away from the in-secure preps.Don't be afriad to say something totally stupid, actualy the really goofy people get more friends!!i mean all those people who say they have a steady relationship and are in love or something just want to look good.

I wish i could talk to you, don't feel like an outcast plus whats wrong with being different???!!

i have to agree with zachary... but i know how it is. I was in year 7 too once. =)

Have you ever got Dolly and there's that bit thats been in recently, with the random compliments? Try and think about any compliments you've gotten before you walk into a room. This advice was given to me and now i always walk into a room smiling and happy and wanting to talk. Give it a go.

Good luck!!

why are you insecure? Don't be... some people that don't talk much can come across as being "too good" or a very unpleasant person... You don't come across to me as one of those people! I am sure they were not insulting you they just wanted to get to know you. Smile more and it says alot that words can't.. Guys are not sure about you because you are not conversing with them much... My daughter was VERY shy.. she took my advise and started smiling and it worked for her...

Ok you're shy but in order for people to get to know you and find out who you is you got to open up inside and show people who you are.Maybe some boys likes a girl who is not so quiet. But don't worry you will find someone who will like you for who you are.
