it's normal, and the sounds he's making are baby noises. Continue the petting, but avoid the body, especially the back. Right now he's a baby and he won't care...but later when he's mature...it's kind of sexual to a bird and a big come on. It's the equivilent of saying "is that a banana in your pocket..." It's hard not to pet, but it will be harder to break the habit once he starts to go into heat cycles.

Keep enjoying your little one just as you are and you will have a fantastic friend for a very long time! Hopefully that really sweet boyfriend will be there just as long!

Trust me, if he didn't like the petting, you'd know it! Birds have no problem showing displeasure with their beaks and their bite can be hard.

Your little friend is enjoying your bonding time and showing you he is pleased by making little noises and small nibbles.

Congratulations on acquiring your new friend!

Of course. How sweet. All birds learn about human affection from us. Have a tweet year.

He loves you.

Mutual grooming is important to birds socially. When you pet him, he thinks you are grooming him, and he returns the favor.
