Do those who live in the country have to watch every movement of their children so they are safe? Do you and your neighbors watch out the window at times to insure the safety of your neighbors children as well as yours? Help keep your children safe and watch as much as you can, please.

Explain them what could happen while you are away and show them how can they handle with difficult situations if you are not there.Let them take more responsibilities and take care of themselves.Don't tell them what NOT to do,because there is a high chance they won't even listen to you.Better explain them how to do what they want safely.

My husband's parents live on eight acres out in the country. The closest town is ten miles away. There are six acres of woods, and the front part is thinned out with paths the kids walk on. They feel like they're explorers, but are always in plain view from my seat on the back porch. They also have a dog that barks at any strange animal or person that is on the property. If I'm not outside, they're not outside.

Conversely, I live in a 48 unit apartment complex. My son walks about a block down the street to the bus stop, and I can't stand it. Whenever my kids are out of sight, I get nervous.

I'm wanting to get a house in the country just for the security of it. You would think having a row of houses with tons of people around would be safer. Not true. Most people turn a blind eye if a situation doesn't directly involve them. Nothing beats having breathing room and a good guard dog. Nothing.

Blessings

Yes I do watch everything my children do to insure their safety. I also watch my neighbors kids and vice versa. I am known as the "Neighborhood Mom" I am constantly worried that someone is going to snatch one of my kids right from under my nose. So even in the grocery store, they are always right with me, and when I put my groceries in the car I put the shopping cart right up to the door and put my kids in first and then I lock all the doors, besides the back hatch where I am putting the groceries in until I am done (I have key less entry so they won't be locked in). Some people just don't realize that it only takes 1/2 a second for someone to kidnap your child. It gets a little harder to keep such a close eye on them every second when they become teenagers though, but I always know where my kids are at all times, who they are with when they will be home and how they will get home. I use the 2 rule. Two together walking, never walk alone anywhere. It really breaks my heart, that we live in such a world, where people are preying on our children. God help us and protect our kids.

I grew up in the country on a farm and yes my parents kept a very watchful eye on me. There are things on farms that can be unsafe like farm equipment, animals (both wild and on the farm), and open water. Sure I didn't have to worry so much about violence, gangs and other things that happen in the city until I moved to a large city but like I said, my parents still tried their best to make sure I was safe and I do the same for my kids in the city and when we go back to visit.

Sounds like you are speaking from experiance, every child should be monitored especially the teens who fall pray to online preditors. However it is virtually impossible to watch every moment of your childs life. There are going to be some hard times when you might think you could have done something different or better.

Bring them up right, and hope everything is ok.

Make sure when they are not at home, they are with some friends, and not alone. Maybe 2 or 3 friends, good friends can watch out for each other.
