Just testing people's sense of humor, Yuri, no worries :)

And Nicholas H: If you find homosexuality an insulting word, I find that an insult towards homosexuals. But that's just me. If you think telling people to have a sexual preference _is_ an insult..well..maybe you better rethink your stance on homosexuality then.

Hah. If they're good atheists, they won't care. I mean, what objection could they have over it? Certainly not a moral objection. Maybe an "icky" objection, but that's just prejudice and (I think) most atheists are beyond that. (Maybe not, from the responses in this thread.... o_O )

Or you could just have a baby and hand it to them. Sort of the "throw them in and watch them swim" approach. :p

Often atheists are not straight, they have no patience to know the truth, the idea of an ethical policeman - particularly working incognito - is most irritating to them... except a very few, who are honest to put courteous and intelligent questions about the religious beliefs. Most others use hostile and abusive language that shows their lack of interest to know - the haughtiness is also due to an aversion for a super power! They want to convince themselves that there are no such things as God and angels...

Man very much likes to indulge in things that are termed as sinful by the religious men.. The nobel laurete poet philosopher Tagore (India) sings in Geetanjali (Song Offerings) in one verse..:

"..Lord I know priceless wealth is in Thee and that Thou art my best friend, but I have not the heart to sweep away the tinsel that fills my room... I hate it ... yet hug it in love..."

He honestly portrays the weakness of an average believer who loves God and also indulges in actions that are called sins... gambling, lying, name calling, silfish actions of sorts... This honesty is not there in most atheists... who hide their fear and suggest that there is no such thing as divine or spiritual... no moral police working in cognito... and all..

It is easy to deal with people who are forthright in their convictions... you can talk to them and have them hear your points... even if they do not agree, they would tolerate you for sticking to your sincere belief...

But it is pretty impossible to deal with hypocrites (either with the atheist or theist - the pretending theist).. who will not listen to others' views with patience and place their rebuttals in proper way..

Based on your parents' true disposition you can decide your strategy... If they are the false type you are not going to convince them... you need not waste your energy on that... If other wise, then tell them just you feel as sure of your stand as they do in their beliefs... They would be good enough at least to let you go with your "damn straight" ways... !

God bless you.

I don't get if Wazoo was making a play on words or made a spelling mistake with gentle...either way, it gave me a good laugh.

Yeah, you pretty much are going to get burned. I, too, though that you were athiest.

Markster, you crack me up. :D

Maybe you should leave them a note at the dinner table. Or you could just get it over with by bringing a girl home and letting them just deal. Who are they to force their ways on you, anyway? ;)

EDIT: Guys, lighten up! He's one of the good atheists. He's just doing a play on words, since people are always asing how to tell their Christian parents that they're gay. Smile!!

Urinass

I think you've already been a disappointment to them because of your stupidity.

Wow, I bet you'll be flipping burgers when you're 30.

And to Elisia: what the hell do you mean by "one of the good Atheists?" Are most of us bad?

And Wazoo: Be Gentile? As opposed to Jew? Ha, ha, ha

I don't understand the question straight as opposed to gay? And what's that got to do with religion?
