No, new soldiers do not normally have any access to the internet while in basic training, and they get very limited time on the phones. At least this was the case when I went through 5 and a half years ago.

When in bootcamp, recruits do not have access, or really time to use anything of the sort. I went through USMC boot in 94, so the internet was not really all it is now. Phone calls were pretty much nonexistent. We got to make a 10 minute call christmas day.
Other than letters, you are pretty much removed from society during this time. And, you only got one hour of free time each evening right before lights out. We were usually either writing letters, reading them, or just waiting to hit the rack because you are usually exhausted by the end of the day.

For the most part No, and that is considered on an individual basis, to allow access for emergency's. The focus is military training and programming, and the military will keep any contact from the outside to a minimal use like the aforementioned above.

no you do not have access to the internet. at bootcamp, you have very little time to yourself and that time is usually spent resting or studying. You have one short phone call home to tell loved ones your flight address and that you are okay. then you have to get off and let the next person in line go.

My experience with boot camp was (OMG this is depressing) 17 years ago but unless things have changes dramaticaly no you will not have access to the net until you are done with basic. You should get to make maybe three phone calls home before graduation, and all the snail mail you can stand to write.

For me boot camp was 22 years ago. I didn't know anything about the Internet then. If it even existed. I'll have to ask Al Gore since he invented it.

Yes you can have access to the internet while in basic training. Most of those who do this use hand held devices and a lot of discretion as not to disrupt any training.

OMG, you are funny. It wouldn't be called training if they got to do whatever they want. After boot camp though, it'll be like normal...ish
