I'm not a doctor, but the skin eating disease is also called necrotizing fasciitis. It can pop up anywhere on the body, but predominantly on the extremities. Signs include:

Sudden and severe pain at the affected area, fever, nausea, vomiting, redness, warmth and swelling of the affected area and in later stages, the skin will become discolored, or peel and scale.
