so this guy i love said he couldn't be with me, but now he is so giving me mixed signals. being extremely nice when we talked about staying away from each other....i've talked to him more since our "talk" than ever before. is he just trying to be nice? or is it possible his feelings have changed? and how do i know for sure without specifically asking him?

You can either wait and see if he makes a move or you'll have to ask him. But I think waiting is the only option other than specifically asking. And it does kind of depend on why he said he couldn't be with you. Just tread carefully. It's a difficult situation to be in without getting burned. Waiting for someone who may or may not have feelings for you is no way to live your life. But (speaking from experience) when that person is in your it's hard to change how you feel about them. Asking is the best way to find out what's going on, but if he hasn't sorted out his feelings yet it may be rushing things. Try not to spend too much time with him or too much time thinking about him if you can help it. If you feel like you need to play the waiting game, spend time with your friends and (if at all possible) try to go on a date or two with other guys. Good luck. :)

Maybe he just doesn't want you to feel totally "crushed" and is trying to make up for it by being very nice to you and making you feel good. Guys are extremely weird and it's always hard to tell what's going on in that noggin of their's. You need to ask him though. It will kill you to overanalyie the situation and re-think it a dozen times in a row.

Just casually say, "Hey can I talk to you about something? ...Well, I'm a little confused on the situation." And just explain from there.

You'll be fine! Good luck! :-D

If he said he couldn't be with you, I say move on. He might just be "being nice to you" to get what he wants, then... he's gone.
You deserve better and deserve to be with someone who wants to be with you.

i think it depends. why can't he be with you? is he with someone else? maybe he just wants to be friends? also, you won't really know unless you ask him so if it's bothering you just go ahead and do it.
