I was born to a catholic family. I was expelled from a Catholic Grammar School in fourth grade for asking too many questions. The Nuns felt that I was not to question, just believe. Phooey! After much consideration and research into different religions, I came to the conclusion that I just don't believe in the whole concept of religion. Religion has been the cause of so many wars, deaths, etc. Why can't everyone just follow the Golden Rule: Do unto others as you would have then do unto you? Why pray in church? Does Church have a direct sattelite to a Higher Power? Also, are there any religions that are NOT oppressive to Women? It's all a little fishy if you ask me. It seems there are too many religions for just one to be the ticket to eternal peace.

hello fellow logical moral atheist, welcome to the club. Please ignore "patrone". Every single one of his answers is "Jesus is the answer". He honestly believes that quoting the bible is proof of its validity and doesn't even realize that it is not proof in any sense of a logical argument. He honestly believes "The bible is true because it says so".

I can't speak for everyone else. I can tell you that I was also a Catholic when I was little. Since they could not answer my questions, I made a similar decision to yours. That was when I was 13 or so. I always knew in the back of my mind, that their must be a God, but that He couldn't be what the Catholic church taught me.

Many years later, God, who never gave up on me, began drawing me back. One day, I gave in and made Him my Lord and my Savior.
Once I decided to SUBMIT to Jesus as my Lord (owner) I had what you could call a "born again experience".
From that moment on, my life began changing dramatically. I was seeking and I was finding. God has answered all my prayers, and He has blessed me way beyond anything I would have expected.

I am a "sold out" believer now, not because I have "faith" (though I do have faith), but because of my personal experience and my personal relationship with God, with Jesus, and with the Holy Spirit.

I know of no other "religion" where people have that kind of experience.

I serve the living God. I don't serve any "religion".

Today, I walk in divine health and have been "loaded" with benefits of that decision!

I hope you have a wonderful life!

Christianity is still the way to go, although Catholicism tends to be the cause of much of the hate directed at Christianity. We used to have a pretty good record of NOT killing people until a pope decided he wanted some land back. I would recommend looking into some protestant churches. You do not have to pray in a church, although church attendance is a healthy part of a relationship with God. It seems like some of your notions about what God is like is warped by your childhood experiences. I believe that you desire to do what is right and I like that you have narrowed down what is really important to God. Love your neighbor as yourself. So ask a few more questions search the Bible for the answers and pray that God will show you the truth. He won't let you down.

You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all of your heart. Jeremiah 29:13

I'm sorry about your experience with the nuns. You should have been free to ask questions. It was through asking questions that I found my way INTO the Catholic Church! After much consideration and research into different religions, I came to the conclusion that Catholicism IS the One True Faith.

I'm a Christian, Youth Sunday School Teacher, and a nurse. It sounds like you had a really bad experience with religion in your youth. God is love nothing more. Us Christians feel that our religion is based by faith. So if you have no faith, how can you believe? Take time to evaluate why you feel the way you do. Religions are a tool that have been built up past their purpose, which is to help render Truth. Personally I look at religions like candles illuminating an object and casting shadows from the object. Each religion has a different angle and relative position to the others and the object (Truth) and you would see multiple shadows cast. But, were you to remove the object and the shadow stayed, you would see it's actually only one shadow connected underneath the object.

i don't believe any ONE religion is right. We should ask questions and they should be answered. I DO believe however that we should worship GOD and put no one before Him... no prophets or 'prophets', priests, pope.. anyone. If you know there is a God and read his word and try to live by that word... then I think we will be OK. Yes love one another... what a simple thing to do from God's word, and we can't even do that as a people.

i went to catholic school for 9 years. all i can say is ... im glad thats over. i dont believe in that stuff at all anymore. eternal peace doesnt come from a book, or a 'saint', or a statue, or a religious authorative. it comes from inside you, no one 'gave' it to you at birth, it was always always always a part of you, hidden somewhere. anyway, i dont like the idea of religion either. my advice to you, is to stay away from the preachers in the relgious section in Y!A. itll be the best thing.

I don't believe in religion actually but i do believe that christians should congregate together to share experiences and to have a place to focus completely their time to God in worship inside a temple. But there is no actual religion, the bible simply called the followers of Jesus christians.
